View Full Version : Campaign Book closes when clicking story links

Hi everyone,

I noticed something a bit inconvenient when using the campaign book. Whenever I click a story link inside the book, it does open the story just fine — but it also closes the campaign book at the same time.

That means if I want to read another chapter or go back, I have to reopen the campaign book every time. It would be much nicer if the book stayed open, so the story link just opens as normal and I can keep browsing without extra clicks.

Has anyone else run into this? Could we make it so the campaign book stays open when following links?

Thanks :)

Confirmed. It happens to me also. Most recent update as of 7 pm PDT 8/10.

I can also confirm that problem. Happens to me as well

I can confirm. Any kind of link to either a simple story entry or to an advanced story entry either within the book or from another book causes the page to open and the book to close.

I'm working through any reports of issues with the Story Books. When attempting to reproduce this today, I was unable to reproduce, which leads me to believe that it was fixed as part of another Story Book fix. Please let me know if you are still having this issue with the latest updates.

It is not fixed. If you want to reproduce:

1. Open your Campaign book.
2. Create a story entry (not inside the Campaign book)
3. Drag & drop the story entry to a text inside your Campaign book.
4. Click on that dropped story [that was not created inside the Campaign book]
5. Result as of now: Story entry opens [as it should]. BUT the Campaign book will close at the exact moment [as it should not]

I hope that will help to reproduce the error. It always does for me.

One more thing. After the campaign book is exported and becomes a module and is loaded as such, it works normally as all modules. It is only a problem when you write the campaign book (to make maybe a module later). But it is really an annoying little bug, as one often has to check links and look up stuff when writing the future module.

@GrumpyGramp,

I wasn't able to recreate in my existing campaign in the Test channel; nor was I able to recreate in a brand new campaign. I might need more specific steps.

hmm, I will narrow it down. I could show it on a Discord stream?

Yeah, a video would work as well; just need to see the exact steps to see if I can recreate here. If still can't recreate, might need the zipped up campaign too.

Also, this might only be currently fixed in the Test channel, not in Live. I had to rewrite a bunch of code to fix an issue for @Maasq regarding module books with campaign records embedded. This might be related to that if you are currently running in Live channel.
