Some background about the mini-campaign:

I'd aim for three session of around 3-4 hours at SUN around 5 PM UTC (+- 1 hour if necessary) with the option to extend it another three sessions).

"Once upon a time, a child saved the world of fairytales. His reward was a wish. The One who Plots in the Shadows saw an opportunity to tarnish the child's heart, whispering to him a corrupted idea. The child asked the King of Fairytales that the Villains, accursed for centuries, be granted a new life. This was to be their chance for redemption. This was how the Villains became good. But any light needs a shadow, and in turn, the Heroes became evil. At that moment, all fairytales were shattered.

Broken Tales is a tabletop RPG of dark stories, reinterpreting fairytales from an upside-down perspective. Players will become part of the Order, a secret group operating on behalf of the Papacy to investigate supernatural events beyond human comprehension. Moving through an 18th century Europe imbued with mysticism and horror, the main characters of Broken Tales are nothing less than the former antagonists of fairytales, thrown into a new world resulting from the wish of the Child Savior."

Note that while it features dark stories it doesn't mean it will necessarily be devoid of humour.

The following pregens are available. Let me know whether I should send you a specific one or whether you prefer to page through all of them:

Hunters based on well-known fairytale villains: Baba Yaga the Child Witch, Babai the Judge, Garou the Old Wolf, James the Swordsman, George the Holy Dragon Slayer, The Immortal, The Woman of the Woods, Marina the Sea Explorer, Niklaus von Krampus, The Astonishing Piper without a Name, Regina the Thief of Hearts, Sun Wukong the Amazing Monkey, Verdoux Bluebeard and Yukie Onn the Wandering Artist.

Hunters (Broken Ones): those who, turned evil because of the Savior Child's wish, were later redeemed: Alice of Other Worlds, Beauty and her Beast, Bloodwhite, Carlo the Living Puppet, Hatta Carter, The Knight with a Hundred Heads, Iskra the Young Wolf, The Gang of Three Pigs, Morgana of the Lake, OZena the Suffering, Sherazade the Weaver of Tales, Talia the Sleeper and Yvonne of the Dark

There is also a second expansion. If you are interested in any of these characters, please let me know: e.g. Circe the Alchemist (Circe), Miss Snow and Lady Storm (the Snow Queen), Tremoteus Rumpel (Rumpelstiltskin), Loki the Deceiver (Loki) and Prince Trollo the Innocent (the Troll), The Seven Dwarves (Snow White)

If you have any preference on tackling a specific fairy tale (adventure), let me know. The only thing to note is that it's not possible to play one of the original heroes of the adventure we're playing through (as they would be the villains of the adventure). Playing the original villains is however possible and may grant you additional boons.

I'll likely try out some other rulesets after this one.

Player expectations:

You should get along with the other players (and the GM).

If you cannot make the session, no problem, but please try to notify me in advance.

Online games usually mean that there are less feedback mechanisms and I am not able to read thoughts. Direct feedback is therefore appreciated (what you liked, what you want to see more of, …).

Similarly, if you have issues with some content, be sure to communicate it to me (e.g. whisper an “X”).

While there is always the risk of technical issues, if you are using Discord or Fantasy Grounds for the first time, I highly suggest testing them out ahead of time (connecting etc.). Please note that for Fantasy Grounds, the server needs to be up in order for you to connect – which you’ll have to tell me in advance.

About the GM:

Expect me to have a German accent. I have run a fair amount of sessions using various rulesets, the vast majority of them online. I usually address players by character name.

How to apply:

Please send me through DM or on Discord (my forum name is also my Discord handle) the following information:

1. Your timezone and a confirmation that the time slot listed works for you most Sundays.

2. One (short) paragraph about your familiarity with Role Playing Games and Fantasy Grounds.

3. A (short) paragraph about your gaming preferences (e.g. by listing around three terms you have strong opinions on from https://philgamer.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/metagame-rewards-or-the-different-kinds-of-fun/ - the original Manyfold Glossary doesn’t seem to be online any more).

4. The word “tale” somewhere in the application – the specific context does not matter. Please note that this is a mandatory requirement – applications without it will not be considered.

5. Your email or Discord handle.
