View Full Version : Attacks not rolling against targets

Hello!
I don't know if this is a PF2e issue or a core FGU issue. Thought I'd start here.
Starting last week (so prior to the 4.8 update), I have 2 players that have had the same issue: They have an enemy targeted, we can all see it targeted in both the Combat Tracker and on the map, but when they roll their attack, it doesn't roll against the target (it rolls as if they had no target selected). The "fix" we have found is the player logs out of FGU, logs right back in, then rolls against without changing anything and suddenly it rolls properly against the target. This doesn't happen with every attack, and it can work for a bit and then fail again, causing another log out/log in to fix.
We are running PF2e Legacy. Happy to provide any other information that may help track this down. Thank you!

First thing for the players to check when this happens is to verify they haven't accidentally disabled targeting in the modifier box in the bottom left of the desktop as per the screenshot below.

If this isn't the issue, the GM should try rolling the actions as well and see if targeting fails for them.
If it's still failing for the player ask them to take a screenshot of Fantasy Grounds and post that here.

Thanks Trenloe - in talking with the players, it is likely they are accidentally turning off targeting per your screenshot. Thanks for the quick response and an easy thing to check next time it happens!

I've just been doing some troubleshooting and the issue appears to be related to the new dice drag/drop functionality on the player side - if they player just drag/drops to roll onto the desktop targeting isn't used; it works fine on the GM side. I've reports this to SmiteWorks, hopefully they'll get a fix soon.
In the meantime use double-click/buttons to roll or drag/drop onto a target token on the map or Combat Tracker.

Flinging dice to the desktop should now use targeting (if enabled) the same as the GM. This wasn't working for players but should now be fixed.

Is there a Hitbox on the Token ??
Sometimes if i Throw an Attack or Damage Dice on the Token only the Roll is in chat and i have to take the Result and put it again on the Token, sometimes it works Perfect. I dontīt know is there a Time Gate for the game that it realise that it is a Attack roll against a Target??

Sometimes if i Throw an Attack or Damage Dice on the Token only the Roll is in chat and i have to take the Result and put it again on the Token, sometimes it works Perfect. I dontīt know is there a Time Gate for the game that it realise that it is a Attack roll against a Target??

With the new throw-the-dice-anywhere functionality, the drop procedure needs to be precise with the cursor not moving when the mouse button is released - otherwise FG treats the roll as a normal roll and not a drop on a token.

There is a feature vote available regarding making it an option. Hopefully enough people vote for it that it happens, because honestly the "roll anywhere" thing is causing all kinds of annoyance for my players.

The new way causes all kinds of unintentional rolls, at least for me and my players.

In your video, the first roll is not interpreted as a drop because the mouse is still moving too fast when you release the button. It assumes you are in the middle of a roll where you are flinging the dice. In the second instance, the mouse movement speed is low, so it assumes this is a drop action onto a target.
