View Full Version : Fantasy Grounds locks up

I am having an issue when using Fantasy Grounds Unity Ultimate edition to run Old School Essentials.
I am finding the VTT locks up for no real reason. I only have 5 players and I have 16 gigs of ram.
These lockups are making using FG almost impossible.
Can anyone make suggestions on how to fix these issues? I have invested in FG and I want to use it but I am getting annoyed by these problems.

We'll need more information. How big is your campaign folder? How many images have you shared and what size are the images (if not from a module)? What modules do you have loaded and which ones are shared? At what point does FGVTT hang; that is what is happening when it hangs? Are you using extensions? Does this happen without extensions?
It would probably be a good idea to compile your log files when this next happens https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1242136781/How+to+Compile+Logs and post then here.
And it may also be worth zipping up your campaign and posting it here or if too big add it to Dropbox or similar and post a link here.

Was this before or after the latest update? I can't imagine it is the ruleset but that plus what is happening while it locks up would help.
Make all your maps and images webp.
Make sure images are no larger than 1080 x 720
Maps can be larger but I think FG says 4k by 4k largest.
Unshare any images that are no longer applicable.
Tokens should be webp and 250 x 250 pixels
Long term campaigns can require a bit of maintenance to keep them manageable.

2) 5 Shared Images
1st Image- 474 KB
2nd Image- 133 kb
3rd Image- 189 KB
4th Image- 196 KB
5th Image- 224 KB
3 No Adventure Module.
4) FGTabber extension was on, but I turned it off. No other Modules are on. Hope that helps.

The FG tabber extension basically maintains multiple screens of fantasy grounds. So That could for sure hog resources. It would be like having 100 windows all open at once. Post the other things Zach said when it happens again. IM guessing if you leave FG tabber off it may fix it.

What size are the images dimensionally? The file size are usually not as big of an issue as are the dimensions and the number openly active.

Image sizes are as follows:
1st Image- 1080x1080
2nd Image- 800x 555
3rd Image- 696x 869
4th Image- 1080x 810
5th Image- 668x 804
Only one image is open at a time.

Ok well it is off. We we play again in a week I will keep the extension off and see if that fixes the issue.
