Fantasy Grounds launch button greyed out

Mac OS 15.6 running on Mac mini M2

Twice in the past couple of months, I've tried to launch Fantasy Grounds, but the launch button was greyed out. Last time, I used my backup to replace FG with a version from a few days earlier. That didn't help this time.

I've tried rebooting, deleting and reinstalling, and using the "Clear Settings" option on the UpdaterEngine Support tab. Previously, I've had my FG Data folder on an external drive without issue. Today, I tried moving the Data folder to the default location and pointing the Data Directory setting to the new location. There's a message in red saying "Note: you may be prompted for admin permissions" but nothing popped up. I went into Privacy and Security / Files and Folders, and that looks fine.

I'm not fluent with the terminal, but I copied and pasted some lines from an FG support page that was supposed to address permissions issue. No help.

What am I missing?

Probably not this, but...
Are you trying to launch a new or existing campaign? Or trying to join as a player?

If a new campaign, did you make sure to give it a name (with no special characters) and select a ruleset?

The next time this happens please:
1) Take a screenshot of the whole FG launch screen showing the issue and post that here.

I'm the DM, and this is a campaign ongoing for years. (Dungeon of the Mad Mage). I guess I'll try moving all the existing data out of the folder, install a fresh copy, and see if it launches. If it does, I'll drag the existing data in piece by piece and see if there's some corruption causing trouble.

OK, whatever was going on before seems to be fixed now. False alarm!

Yep, that's correct.

From your screenshot - the Start button is always greyed out when first loading FG. You need to go to "Load Campaign" and select a campaign, or "Create Campaign" and create a campaign before the Start button is enabled.

Agreed. It wasn't working before the reinstall and data folder move.

Unless I was having a senior's moment. That's certainly possible.

Is there any contra-indication re putting the data folder on an external drive?

We haven't heard anything specifically; but you have to be careful to make sure Settings match up to actual folder location.

Also, whenever you move data folders outside of the OS recommended data folder locations, there are always possibilities of the OS-level permissions issues.
