View Full Version : How to add footprints to map?

Hi all!

What's the easiest way to add hidden tracks (footprints) to a map layer so I can reveal them if/when the party makes a perception check and finds them? My artistic skills are extremely limited, so I was looking for some sort of token or stamp I could add. Anything I find online has a blank background and I'm unable to match the background to the color of the map. Is there another way to do this?

Thanks!

You'll have to find an image that either has a transparent background or one you can make transparent.

I haven't done a footprint/tracks or I would share it with you. But I've done it for portraits and other such things. I use GIMP. If the image has a solid background make sure you had transparency layer to the image and then you can use the magic wand/Fuzzy Select tool to psuedo-automatically select the background and then delete it. The background with then become transparent. Then you can do a crop to content to make the file smaller and import it to FG to use.

Let me know if you need more details.

Note There is a set of footprints in FG you can already get. Not sure if these are included free or which pack you have to buy, I don't have the Art subscription but have bought some of the packs. You should be able to find it though from the name.

The screenshot suggests they're in this: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=SWKArtPack2019

Thank you both. I'll check out both options!

Hee hee! Somehow that worked! Other than TokenTool I just don't work with graphics, but I downloaded GIMP and somehow got the transparency to work and used the stamp function in FGU to place them on a painting layer that I can now toggle on or off. Brilliant!

Thanks for the help -just wanted you to know it didn't go to waste!
