Hi there,

I decided to install Fantasy Grounds on my older 2TB (Drive D) SSD instead of my new primary 4TB Drive C.

I installed as default except I replaced C:\... with D:\... and then when asked about Data install, I changed it completely to D:\Games\Fantasy Grounds.
It installs, then say running updater but nothing starts up.

I noticed no desktop ICONs (and too new to Win11 to know if there is a Start-Menu type thing, didn't see it) - so I tried searching on "Fantasy Grounds" in searhc bar and FG "Windows App" appeared and I clicked on it. Nope, I get windows error saying:
"C:\Program Files\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\FantasyGrounds.exe
The specified path does not exist

Check the path, and then try again."

Both C and D are brand new formatted drives. Documents and others got apparantly populated due to my cloud. Drive E is my old spinning WD10TB and it MIGHT have some FG backups on it (I copied all my drives' data to various dirs in that to help transfer.

So I looked in ProgFiles of D (not C, nothing there) and found FGUpdaterEngine.exe but not FantasyGrounds.exe or the like...

Do I now on Windows11 NEED to do on DriveC??? Or is something else fubar on my setup?

going directly to the FG prog dir and clicking on FGUpdater, that runs it.

The files will be installed wherever the directories are specified in the FG app folder and FG data folder in the FG Settings. If these are changed after initial installation, you may need to delete the old ones or set up new shortcuts on the desktop or start menu.

NM - it's fixed - seems to be paranoid user error (will edit last post also)

UPDATE: As I say below, the installer said it was starting Updater but did NOT. So I thought something failed in the install. Especially since via seacrhbar it showed me FG app and failed trying to go to Drive C - guess it was some "defaults".

Lastly - there was no FG Icon on desktop like all my prior years of installs. But, once I manually ran the installer by going to D:\Games\Fantasy Grounds\FGInstaller it downloaded/created the FG.exe and grabbed the files (I assumed the latter, didn't know it also did the exe, but that makes sense - just been long time and as I said, saying it was autorunning installer and it not starting made me think was already bad.)

-------- old post below describing the issues in response to Moon's reply -> working, so it's ignorable

i.e. (sorry wrote the earlier post hours ago and just noticed didnt hit post - then of course after posting I read it and thought - yeah not too clear)

I did a first time install on CLEAN empty Drive D. Drive C never had any FG installed, I just bought that drive last week and installed it this week.

I DID however have 2 things that might be involved:
1. I had also plugged in a D drive from my old PC, now is Drive E on this new PC. It might have one to N copies of FG (diff folders backups over time) and likely several snapshots of the data folder from over the years (I condensed several HDs to that HD)
2. If FG looks at any folder that might have been connected to OneDrive folders in cloud (Documents, Photo etc) then it might see something FG setting related there

BUT - only if FG installer "looks around" - if it when run for the first time, just puts it where you say - then no it shouldn't matter. But I don't know.
Lastly, on a clean install - how many executables (pre-running Updater) is in the dir? Just the Updater or also FG exe? I didn't run the updatater because installer said "now starting updater" and it never started and I didn't see a FantasyGrounds.exe or desktop icons - so didn't want to continue if already fubared.

EDIT: I have a Gigabit (well 940s) download and during the edit and typing of this and prior post, it is still just a sliver past the halfway point... I might have a DLC buying problem :) )
