View Full Version : Is a 70 MB network log normal?

Following our Tier 3 session last night which involved 20+ combatants and many concurrent effects in play, I noticed that the network log file was unusually large (nearly 70 MB) following the session. Aside from known issues (e.g., non-working secret doors, etc.) and manageable lag, likely due to the size of the map and the scope of the battle, FGU was running well enough during the session and we had no client disconnects. Normally I see network logs around 20 MB following our sessions when I do my campaign data file back-ups, but 70 MB seems excessive. Is this normal? I'll attach the logs in case anyone with more tech savvy than I have would like to see them.

There's a lot of channel bind request/response entries. I don't know if this is normal for your setup. There were a lot of these going to/from an IP address of 192.168.1.107 and the game WAN IP address - I believe 192.168.1.107 is the GM's local IP address. These are just request/response traffic - no errors (that I can see). But, as mentioned, I don't know if this level is expected. Hopefully one of the FG devs will see this and comment.
As an aside - I notice you backup each PC XML individually at the end of the session. You can backup all PC XML into a single file using the /exportchar chat commend - may save you a minute, and a lot of clicking, at the end of your session! :)

For reference, mine typically run 12 MB for a 2 hour game with ~4 players plus GM.

Mine from yesterday is 44MB, no issues with the session though, it was approximately 3.5 hours, GM (2 instances) + 5 players.

Yes, 192.168.1.170 is my LAN IP.
Awesome—thanks for the /exportchar tip! I have been playing in FG since 2017, and I never knew about that slash command. That would definitely save me some clicking.

Mine doesn't sound so farfetched then. I also didn't see any errors and have no reason to believe that anything is wrong, but I was curious to see what others would say.
FYI, DM plus 5 players and I had FGU running nonstop for 6 hours, including prep time.
