Full Description
The 5E Custom Item Importer enables you to quickly import multiple items into Fantasy Grounds from bulk-formatted text. It's ideal for converting gear lists, magic item compendiums, or player-created inventories without manually entering data.
There are three available import methods:
• Legacy Import – Fast, delimiter-based single-line format
• 2024 Import – Redirects to the ruleset’s default import tool
• List Import – Supports both Legacy and 2024 item fields via labeled field blocks
The Import List button appears in the Items list window. Hovering over the button displays the tooltip: "Import List".

How It Works:
Legacy Import
• Click the Import Legacy button
• Use double-spaced values in this format: Name ⠀⠀Cost ⠀⠀Weight ⠀⠀Description ⠀⠀DM Notes
• Skips malformed entries and blank lines
• Supports Legacy format only
List Import
• Click the Import List button
• Paste multi-line item blocks using field triggers (e.g., Name:)
• Each item must begin with a Name: line
• Recognized fields (Legacy and 2024):
• Name, Non-Identified Name, Non-Identified Notes
• Type, Subtype, Rarity, Cost, Weight
• Bonus, Damage, AC Base, Dex Bonus
• Strength, Stealth, Properties, Mastery
• Description, DM Only, Version
• Fields are optional and may appear in any order
• Supports both Legacy and 2024 formats
________________________________________
2024 Ruleset Compatibility
• The Import 2024 button redirects to the ruleset's default importer
• Only the List Import method supports 2024 fields and formats directly
• Fields such as Mastery and Version are parsed when present
________________________________________
Current Limitations
• Field name typos are not detected
• Multi-paragraph descriptions must be flattened (line breaks not supported yet)
• No validation for required fields—Name: is mandatory to start an item block

Vision for This Tool
The Custom Item Importer is designed to simplify item creation in Fantasy Grounds. Whether you need fast entries via Legacy format or detailed item blocks compatible with 2024 rules, the tool gives you the speed and structure to build your library efficiently.
