This thread is meant to attract GMs and serve as a springboard to get us on Discord to start coordinating things.

I’m looking for a few ambitious GMs interested in helping me run a West Marches campaign in Shadowdark. I’m tentatively calling it ShadowMarch--mostly because I’m the one making the exploratory post and the Discord server.
If you genuinely want to run games in a shared world for an ever-changing league of players and characters, PM me for a Discord invite. That’s where we’ll build the bones of this thing. To GM you will need a bare minimum of the Fantasy Grounds VTT License (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=FGU03) and the Shadowdark RPG rules (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=IPFGSDTALCORE).
If the idea of a shared world catches your attention but you’re not familiar with West Marches, here’s the core structure:
Players:
• Into old-school dungeon crawling and open-world discovery from a central hub town
• Head back to town after every session for rest, gear, and Carousing
• No fixed parties; cliques discouraged
• Sign up for sessions as they’re scheduled
• Expected to drive the action by proposing expeditions
(“We want to find out what’s causing the outbreak of croco-donkeys down by the Old Drowned Orchard.”)
Game Masters:
• No fixed schedule—post a session when you’ve built an adventure around a player-proposal
• Watch the expedition-ideas channel for player goals, then pick one and run with it
• Shared maps, NPCs, rumor board, and campaign log
• Persistent world—time moves forward after each session
I won’t lie: this will probably take a bit more coordination than running a static group. You’ll need to stay in sync with other GMs through the Discord server and be socially flexible enough to deal with different groups each session. You may need to import Player Character records before each session and walk Players through Player Character exports following each session.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll hammer out a world framework, lock in tone, and rough in our starting availability. Then we'll start courting players.
If this sounds like your kind of chaos, get in touch.
