Hi
Just a quick question...I have six players in an upcoming game.
And I would just like to check if there could be a problem with Multiple npc tokens in the combat tracker.
Can the tracker handle six players and multiple non player characters or is there a basic limit on the number of things in the tracker... roughly how many things can be in the combat tracker without any problems of slowing down or not working.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have never hit an upper limit in FGC let alone FGU.
I've had 15 players and 12+ NPCs.
I've had 7-8 PCs and 40+ NPCS/Vehicles
I've never seen a problem with the CT.

I’d say though there’s no actual limit I’ve found, as you dm, you learn the limit is really gonna be to your own tolerances. It’s very tedious and time consuming to manage a CT that has a lot of NPCs on it.
I’ve also tried once to have around six players and thirty or more NPCs. IMHO not worth it.
To this day I’m always confused if a dm has a CT with fifty NPCs and only a quarter of them are relevant to the story / part of the game at that time.
There’s enough to manage as a dm don’t stress yourself out unnecessarily.
Also there’s a performance hit that will be noticed the more you have loaded in your session. After all your system and your players systems have a finite number of resources like ram .
That’s my two cents

There is no hard coded limit - i.e. you can add as many PCs and NPCs to the combat tracker as you wish. However, every NPC added to the combat tracker is copied to make a unique record in the CT - this increases load on FG. Depending on which ruleset you use (complexity of NPC records and CT functionality impacts performance), extensions that operate on CT data, size of the active map(s) and GM/Player computer specifications; you will see a performance impact at some point - either on the GM side and/or the player side - it's hard to say exactly when that will happen as it will be impacted by a few factors.

Effects on the NPCs, as well as if you have LOS on will impact performance as you have more actors on the CT. As others have said, where the practical limit is will depends on you. But as others have said, FG handles (for me) more actors on the CT than I want there. But some GMs want all the tokens for the entire dungeon or town on the CT at once and have trouble doing that. There is a combat groups extension that I hear helps.
