Hi,

Commenced adjustment to the new UX in FGU today.

One thing I noted is the menus would start showing underneath the Windows Bar for the dice.

It meant that I could not access the 2x dice roller without additional clicks to get the windows bar out of the way (pop-up mode).

My suggestion for this would be to have the dice roller pop-up start a bit higher - perhaps from just above the die selected rather than just below (see image to help convey).

The first immediately accessible dice is 3x die rather than 2x die which is beneath the windows bar.

This issue more likely is you have the whole window pulled down, or your windows bar is covering FG a bit. Mine is not, my guess is you do not have it maximized or some other setting.

If so, this is expected - hiding the taskbar gives you extra desktop space, but it will pop up over other windows if your mouse approaches the bottom of the screen. It's not just the x2 dice option you can't access in this instance, it's also covering the useful hotkey bar. If you have this option enabled in Windows try to avoid touching the bottom of the screen with the mouse cursor, or move the cursor off the taskbar to hide it again. If you don't have this option enabled then please provide more information on whether FG is running as a window or maximized? If you're running as a window, it looks like you have moved it so the bottom of the FG window is below the taskbar - as the hotkey bar is showing through your taskbar.

Yes. I do have hide the taskbar set - I also don't maximise the FGU screen as I have a 49" monitor and have FGU manually set to take up about 2/3 of the width and then for the other 1/3 I have the Syrinscape Sound board open as I can very quickly adjust the audio and find sounds that I require if I have a customised interface.

Part of designing effective UX includes design for different use cases so I felt I better share my experience.

Its correct my setup also covers the hot keys but I roll dice from the dice roller far more often that I use the hotkey functions so in this case I really noticed the dice layout decision as impactful compared to the old radial dial so best to share so it can be considered.

BTW really appreciate the video tutorials that you do! Happy gaming and teaching!

Yes correct. But I have a 49" monitor (very lucky) so I make 2/3 FGU and the other 1/3 the Syrinscape Online Player (quick to use both).

Didn't have this issue with the radial dial so best to point out that the UX change hit an edge case that might not have been considered during development.

Thanks for the input and Happy Gaming!

@andrewcr - ultimately you're hiding part of the FG window when your taskbar pops up when the mouse cursor hits the bottom of the screen. The hotkey bar and the dice menu are within the FG window, but being hidden by the popup taskbar in your setup. FG devs can't design around users who put portions of FG behind parts of the OS interface - how far would they have to move things like this off the bottom of the screen to accommodate an unknown quantity? Some people might have a double height taskbar, or even larger.

If the popup taskbar is getting in the way of portions of FG in your screen setup when your mouse cursor hits the bottom of the screen then move the mouse briefly above the taskbar to hide it - then you can select the bottom dice option.

Anyway, you've given your feedback, the devs can look at it if they feel this is something they need to try to address. There's ways that you can setup/use your workspace to allow you to access the part of the FG window being hidden by the popup toolbar.
