View Full Version : Prevent players from moving past an invisible line but can still see past it?

So I have a map of an area. I will describe it as a spiral path leading down. As you move along you can see the entire map. No line of sight issues, no terrain blocking sight etc. This is all by design.

What I would like to do is prevent the players from moving their tokens off the path. I thought of using the LoS window tool and then just locking the window. What I get is a mouse over yellow overlay effect that I can't get rid of. I tried logging in as a player to see, I used the "Player vision preview" button, to test it and it all shows the yellow window overlay to the players.

Is there a better idea? Or something I am doing wrong that will prevent the players from seeing the window overlay?

TLDR: I want players to see past a physical barrier without the yellow window "zone" from popping up on mouse-over.

I know my DM has done this somehow for a few rooms in his undermountain maps. will see if he remembers how

It's easy, you turn off the toggle that set it as open or close options.

If you draw your windows with toggleable set to off then no-one will see the big yellow box. Since windows do prevent movement through them, however, that also means that the players can't move through the window. So it depends on whether you want them to be able to move through the window or not if that option is viable for you.

This was the answer I needed! Thank you so much! Works like a charm.

He says to try creating a closed window "line" so they can see "through" the invisible "closed" window. and then the DM can Open it to let them continue. Its been a while since he's done it

In this case you would want to just put the window LOS on a diff layer and turn it off if they need to bypass it. As putting the option to open close is the issue.
