30 yr+ GM, Looking for 5E players who can be dependable
-------------------------------------------------------
So. This is going to be a bit wordy, but I assure you, if you make it through this, you're probably what I'm looking for. I'm scouting for 5E players who can play once per week, with a fixed schedule, (Saturday 6-9pm cst). So, I'll tell you who and what I am, then what I'm looking for, and we'll go from there.
I started my RPG journey back in 1972, and I've GM'ed AD&D through 5E, as well as a few other game systems (Traveller, Star Frontiers, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Twilight 2000 (All pen and paper), probably a few I've forgotten). I've run several campaigns that have spanned years, most recently on Fantasy Grounds a 5E game that ran for 2 years, playing once per week, with 6 players. About half of the players kind of faded away after they reached 22-23rd level, leaving me with a couple of players who still want to play a long-term campaign. If you're looking to get to know the Realms as it is today and you want to travel from the Sword Coast to Chult, across the Anaroch Desert to the Dale Lands and beyond, and if you have the stamina and patience to stick with it then welcome aboard, if you cannot commit to a long term campaign then this is not for you. My roster currently consists of 1 player from the US.
I run module stories with variations by incorporating the character backgrounds to expand the adventure. I use a loose 5e ruleset and the world is Forgotten Realms. I did start off with Greyhawk but found FR more interesting (currently I place my adventures in the Sword Coast). I generally stick to the rulebook. I prefer players who have fun but are interested in plotlines and story arcs that are meaningful to the party or individual characters. As a DM I tend to change up the storylines and plots in standard modules.
What I'm looking for are players of ANY experience with 5E who like their escape from reality with a dose of respect for their fellow player. I'm a firm believer that the puns, gags, and memorable moments of laughter comes organically within the game, not because someone manufactured it at the expense of other player's enjoyment. I would prefer that you have at least a passing familiarity with Fantasy Grounds as a tool, but players new to 5E are welcome, as are old hands at the game.

Volothamp Geddarm (pronounced: /ˈvoʊloʊθɑːmp gɛˈdɑːrm/ VOH-loh-thamp geh-DARM, or more often Volo for short, was a widely traveled human wizard and sage of Faerūn in the mid-to-late 14th century DR. He was a legendary traveler, explorer, and roguish mage, and was most famous, or infamous, for his guidebooks including the controversial and notorious Volo's Guide to All Things Magical.
You meet the famous or rather infamous sage who hires you for a lucrative mission. He sets the adventurers off on an urban-themed treasure hunt for a massive hoard of gold within the city of Waterdeep.
