Hi,

POTENTIAL SPOILER IF YOU ARE PLAYING ABOMINATION VAULTS.

I need a little advice.

Party are playing PF2e Abomination Vaults at the moment and I want to add something.

They are just about to go into the lens workshop A23 and there is a potential for them to fall on to the broken glass and do 1 damage to themselves.

I thought that rather than say "you take one damage" and then knock it off their hitpoints manually it would be cooler to write an effect, create a monster, hazard whatever which would then apply the damage to them.

For the life of me I can't work out what the best way to do this is. I have the Effect Builder extension and I can make an effect that says something like floor;DMG1:melee can't remember exact syntax but not sure where to put it.

Any ideas and advice on how to do it?

You might be making this more work than it has to be; since you can add 1 wound easily using Control + scroll wheel.

But, if you wanted a trap to do that. You could make a trap that has an attack that does 1 damage; then add the trap to CT as hidden, target all PCs, and then apply damage.

Yeah, I guess I was overcomplicating it. I just felt it would be more elegant to have an effect, item or whatever that would state "you take one damage from the glass' or something similar.

Type /damage 1 piercing in the chat window and press enter, then drag the damage entry produced in chat to the PC in the combat tracker. It'll be treated as a damage action and any resistances etc. will be applied.

Great, thanks. That works perfectly for me.

I can pre prepare a text chat that says something along the lines of "As you fall to the floor a large piece of glass slices painfully into your knee/hand/leg"

Still annoyed with myself that I couldn't work out how to 'code' it. Are there any recommended videos or articles on 'how to'?

Have a look at the "Slamming Door" hazard from GM Core - this has an example of automation that rolls a reflex save and a second action that applies damage. Make a copy of this and edit as needed. Details on NPC automation can be found in the FG Wiki here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/2042789889/PFRPG2+-+NPC+Ability+Automation
