Currently we are reaching the end of a long running homebrew campaign. Due to IRL circumstances, some of our players have had to step away. We are looking for adventurers to help finish the fight!

FG License: GM has Full Ultimate License so players need Demo only.

Game System: PF1e

Game System & FG Experience: any level is fine, but given that you start at level 12, experience with pathfinder will go a long way

Day of week and time: Sundays 9 am UTC +9 (this is saturday afternoon/evening for those in North America)

Planned start date: May 4 2025 (or sooner, if we can find enough players)

Planned Duration & Frequency: Bi-weekly

Term: Medium
Text or Voice: Voice
Voice software used: Discord
Will this be recorded and/or live streamed? No
Roleplay & Combat mix: 50/50
Number of Players in game & needed: Ideally 3-4

Character starting level & equipment: Characters are currently level 12. Characters can be generated using wealth appropriate for that level as per CRB.

Character restrictions: No summoners or other PCs with a lot of minions. Combat takes long enough as it is. Players may use materials from the CRB, APG, the Ultimate Books, Occult Adventures and the Advanced Race and Class Guide. Unchained is also available. We are using Elephant in the room. NOTE: There is extensive homebrew with regards to magic use. See details below

Details of your scenario: In a world where all but the most evil gods have gone, dark forces have corrupted the powers of magic and bent the world into a terrible nightmare. Seeking hope, many have sought to ascend a mysterious tower said to hold the answer to the realm’s woes. Currently, the players have made their way to near the top of the tower and have found someone they believe to be the source of the evil corrupting the land. To represent the corrupting effects of this evil force, we are using a tweaked version of the corruption rules from horror adventures. Corruption can be acquired by encountering creatures of darkness, succumbing to evil, or by USING MAGIC. Mechanically, this means that using magic is very dangerous (think like warhammer - if you want more detail, please ask).

I would be interested in more details on the magical corruption. Please... :)

The short version is that using magic (spells, supernatural and spell like abilities) causes PCs to make a d20 roll with a DC of 1. If you succeed nothing happens, but the DC increases by 1 for the next time you make the roll. If you fail the roll through bad luck or through the increasing DC, there are a series of tables that determine what happens. Your roll is modified by the strength of the magic used, the number of magic items in your possession, and environmental factors. Which table you roll on is determined by how corrupted you already are. Table results can bring anything from harmless "wild magic" type results, to summoning the forces of darkness, mutations and more. Generally, higher results are worse. Nearly all results will progress you through a modified version of the corruption system from Horror Adventures (https://www.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2278)

Does the roll reset at some point? Every day? Every week? etc... It sounds interesting but I would like to know a bit more... I tend to play casters and doesn't sound like there is one at the moment.

Yes, the d20 roll resets to DC 1 once you have you have "failed" the roll and are made to roll on the table appropriate for your current corruption level. If you are playing a caster and regularly using your spells, it is only a matter of time before the corruption tables come in to play.

So it only resets on a failure? If that is the case thank you for explaining the house rule to me, but I do not think that is a game I would enjoy. Have a great week.
