Recently I've stumbled on a thing, that such items as Cloak of Protection or Ring of Protection (both give +1 to AC and saving throws) do not make any changes on the character list. I'm okay with this, I can edit it myself, but I can't edith the saving throws part. Is it a problem with this verison? Or I simply need to ask my player to remember that they have +1 to all ST?

You can add an effect to the player that has this on. Putting items in the inventory and equipping them does not give effects without an extension.
The effect you want for this item is going to be
SAVE: 1; AC: 1
I highly suggest getting Equipped Effects extension to help automate these effects on items by using name matching.

Okay, I've installed this extension... but it doesn't seem to work. I checked the appropriate thing during Campaign Load, but still, no changes to AC or ST neither on the Character sheet nor during rolls

What is not working?
You need to match the effect name to the item name for EE to work. It’s not a module of effects it’s a tool to apply effects you’ve made automatically.

Okay, I got this. I will paraphrase my question. Is there any way to make manual changes to ST column without changing the Ability Scores column. ST column is non-editable, I guess?

No, the ability score bonus is tied to the ability score. So if you want to increases the bonus manually then you need to also increase the ability score. Effects applied to an actor do not change the score in the character sheet but are taken into account when a dice roll is made. So if you apply an effect of SAVE: 1 to a player that is on the CT; when they make a saving throw you'll see [EFFECTS +1] or similar in chat indicating that they got the extra bonus on top of their ability score bonus when making the save.
For your original question you don't need any extensions; just add an effect to the characters action tab of SAVE: 1; AC: 1 set the targeting to self and then apply the effect. FGVTT will handle the rest. Yes the player or the GM can manually adjust this by holding control and scrollwheeling over the ST you would like to change. Up or Down scrollwheel. Charsheet needs to be unlocked.

I realize now that you meant Saving Throw rather than strength but it is still better to use effects to get where you want rather than changing the stat directly.

Just wanted to add a note here a missing step, they also must be in the combat tracker as that is the only place effects can apply anything to creatures.
Putting something effect in the action tab and having it set to "self" and clicking it will do nothing unless they are in the combat tracker.
