Dear Fantasy Grounds,
My beard is grey, my head is mostly hairless, and my eyes are dim, yet I love Fantasy Grounds and the games it lets me play with my friends across the world.
Twenty years ago, when I first purchased Fantasy Grounds, these font sizes were fine: I was a much younger man. But alas, as The Gunslinger is fond of saying, the world has moved on, and things which once were are no longer.
I've asked several times and had some kind users reach out with technical solutions which, sadly, are beyond my understanding, but I wanted to ask again in the hope that the wonderful Development crew at FGU might have a solution for me:
Can anyone see this text? I can see it, but reading it is a serious chore: I would love to be able to push it up to 14 point font, rather than the 8 point it's in now. But here's the rub: /scaleui 125 works, but it robs me of precious screen real estate that I need to run these games. Is there a solution where I can keep my /scaleui 100 and still boost the size of this text?
Many thanks, M'Lords!

I don't have a solution, but I wanted to second this request. I've only got one eye that can focus on text and that one has been gradually worsening as I get older. It would be fantastic to have font size decoupled from UI. I'm sure a link to make a suggestion/vote for a suggestion is incoming, but this cuts to the core accessibility of the product. I suspect a large segment of Fantasy Grounds' user base is of the old-guard variety, and keeping the program accessible to them is a great way to keep us playing.

You could try one of these font extension here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?57197-Fonts-from-Google-Fonts and there are more on the Forge like this one here https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/376/view
In the case of the first ones linked if they're still not big enough you can actually open up the font files and change certain values to your liking. You'll need to copy the file out of your extension folder and change the .ext to .zip and then unzip the file. Open the graphics_fonts file in notepad++ (or similar text editor) and find these lines:
<font name="reference-r">
<ttf file="graphics/fonts/Roboto-Regular.ttf" name="Roboto" size="22" />
<color value="#000000" />
</font>
Change the value of 22 to something bigger. (You'll also want to change the other values for reference_h, reference_i, reference_b, and reference_bi as well since those are the heading, bold, italic and bold-italic of the base font). Once you're done save the file and then zip up the contents of the main folder (don't zip the folder but rather select the graphics folder and the extension.xml file and then right click and select sent to ... compressed file. Rename that zipped file back to the original name and change the .zip back to .ext and place that back into your extension folder (overwriting the original).

I'm right there with you. Zacchaeus' recommendation of a font extension is probably your best bet but if you try and tweak it to use another font of your choice be sure to check all the screens. Larger fonts might cause text to overlap or get chopped off at the end on certain pages/sheet/tabs.

I'd vote for a feature enhancement.
I understand the problems with changing font sizes everywhere, but even if we could only independently and dynamically change font sizes in the chat, and both story types I would be thrilled!

I thought there were already some suggestions, and there is one that's close. You may want to look at and vote on:

Voted as well. I probably need to keep a closer watch on the Feature Request page.

The font sizes are directly tied to the window/field sizes on all the sheets. So, increasing the UI Scale is the method to increase the font size; as this increases all UI elements to match the sizing defined for all the sheets across all rulesets.

honestly the best solution and most reliable solution might be to buy a bigger screen...

Totally understand. And with the character sheets and other data objects it makes sense since the fields and windows are set sizes. But, the chat window and the story pages (advanced and simple) seem like they could flow text of different font sizes. i.e. they are both already variable size in nature and simple flow text to fit the width already. Seems like the ability to adjust those font sizes, which IMO are the most important for the ability to adjust sizes separate from the ScaleUI command. It might also allow more complex formatting of story entries, such as being able to use something similar to HTML where you can have +/- N font size adjusts within a string, as well as colors and background colors. IMO it would be great for advanced stories to have more font options than just Header, Bold, Underline, Italic, speech bubble and unordered bullet points.
I know those seem like a lot of current options, but I constantly here complaints about the inability to control fonts compared to other VTTs. I will admit I didn't used to think much of it, until I started converting more already published works and trying to match what more versatile formatting they have done and as I've tried to read Reference Manuals/Books like I would an ePub.
I do think it would help improve the user experience significantly. Not from a practical point (in most cases) but from a user ...ergonomic? and expectation point of view.

An option to adjust the font size in just the chat window might help. Or a easy way to zoom in on a specific window with a on off type option (like maximizing a window and then "unmaxing" it put it back to its previous size, but it also make everything in that window bigger when maxed).

Zacchaeus,
Thanks for posting how to do this. It took me a second to figure it out, but I was able to edit and change the font size with one of the free font packs.

Here is a feature request that I think will help.
You can also use an ext to increase fonts. But this feature request would help a lot as you can only increase the fonts so much on some windows.

@damned,
That has to be one of the worst replies I've ever seen. I have huge monitors (2x 34" Ultra Wides) and this just does not fix it. At a point you can't see the edges of the screen because the monitors are so big.
The solution is like most programs you can adjust the font sides of things and scale each window.
