View Full Version : Arcane Devices and Magic Weapons

Hi - I am sure this has been a topic before, but a search for Arcane Devices did not come up.
How do I go about creating items that grant powers to characters, so once equipped in their inventory, the power will appear in their Powers tab?
Same with magical items. In D&D I can build a weapon or item and once equipped it will add the feats or ability changes. I am looking to do the same.
For example, I am trying to make the Item and Weapon Earthshaker:
This huge maul hits with the force of an avalanche. The wielder gains a +1 bonus on Fighting and damage rolls with the weapon. If the wielder gets a raise on an attack with the weapon, the target must attempt a Vigor roll or be Stunned, in addition to the usual bonus damage.
Additionally, the wielder can spend their entire round striking the ground to generate the havoc power (Cone Template version), using Athletics as the casting skill. This costs no Power Points, but the wielder is Shaken after casting whether successful or not.
Do I add the Fighting +1 into modifications, the havoc power into arcane devices, and then the stunning effect into modifications so it appears as a note on the CT?

Yes.
Powers and edges granted by gear don't appear on the character sheet without an extension.
You can use chillhelm's 4c extension to do that. But chillhelm isn't readily available to update it when rulesets change.

4C does not work with Savage Worlds any longer. I asked on Discord and was told it was not going to be updated because the chase feature is now incorporated into the ruleset

Many of the features in 4c are on the list to be brought into the swade ruleset.
The todo list if very long, and 4c isn't the top item, but it's on the list.

If it helps, I would also like to give my +1.

I'd say put the +1 mods directly on the weapon, then manually add the power to the character sheet. The "automate everything" dream doesn't always work well in FG, especially with Savage Worlds.
Items can have Powers added to them, and the Powers can be used from the item, no need to be added to the characters Power tab.

Besides using the effect [>Skill +1] on a weapon with powers attached. The +1 here was if fact an up vote and not a new request for a +1 weapon if you read it again.

This can all be done in FGVTT without extensions.

Incorrect. Especially the especially with Savage Worlds part.

How? Thank you,
Earth Shaker is a weapon on Savage Rifts - it does most of the stuff you are talking about, but it was made before Ikael updated SWADE effects recently. I will update it and then send screenshots of it on here (and Discord).
