Whilst playing our D&D 5E Legacy game last night (Wednesday, 02/26/25), all my players noted that the "Character Selection" window (accessed via the right-side menu Player -> Character) was completely empty, except for the Character Wizard button. As the DM (and host) my Character Selection window showed everyone's characters, as well as the ones I've created that aren't part of the campaign or part of the party.

The players could still access their character sheets by clicking on their character portraits in the upper left-hand corner of the FGU window, but we were all a little puzzled by this change. Is it intentional? If so, and the players create characters going forward that aren't part of the party, or if their characters leave the party, will they appear in the Character Selection window?

There was a recent change where if a player already owns a character, when you log in to FGU - you automatically select it. I think this might be what your players are seeing. Since the character for each of the players is automatically selected and taken, there isn't anything left in the character selection window.

If you don't think it is that it might be an extension.

That's probably what it is. Thanks very much!

Is there any way to "un-select" a character without giving up ownership of it? It is a little annoying to have every player-owned character at the top left even if they aren't supposed to be active

No, players have any characters they own shown at the top, and are logged into them when they connect. If they don't want to use that character, then they release the character.

Upon release, do those characters then become visible to all players? Previously all players had their own roster of characters with the (OWNED) notation, or are these all defaulting back to DMs character pool?

Many thanks...

Yes, they become visible to all players. The GM can right click on the character entries, and use the Take Ownership (as GM) menu option to remove from all player views.
