Last night (Wednesday, 2/26/25) we had our normal Wednesday night gaming session. We have four players (plus me). All of us use Windows PCs except one, who uses a Mac. For some reason last night he was unable to connect to the game. This message kept appearing in the log over and over and over.

[2/26/2025 6:30:24 PM] [WARNING] NETWORK: Noble Connect [######]: Failed to send over socket: 192.168.1.20.54313 -> 198.199.80.64:3478
No route to host (HostUnreachable - 10065).

The "######" was a 6-digit number that kept increasing - I presume it was just a counter incrementing whenever a connection is attempted. And obviously the time stamp kept changing. I've attached the (grainy) screen shot he sent me.

He's running the latest Mac iOS - 15.3.1
He checked his Firewall, it displays as "not active"
He tried shutting and restarting FGU, then tried shutting down and restarting his Mac.

He didn't have any issues connecting when we last played two weeks ago (2/12/2025). He's pretty sure that he's updated his Mac's iOS version since we last played. Looking online, I see that the latest version of Sequoia is 15.3.1, and it was released on 02/10/2025).

Any help would be appreciated.

Sequioa has a new security setting. Have your player read through this post below and see if this solves it for them. Let us know.

My friend (with some trepidation) reinstalled the Mac iOS, per suggestion #4 in the linked thread. That appears to have resolved the problem. Thanks very much for your help!

Recently, some players were unable to consistently connect to my game. Whenever the player attempted to connect the server message of:

"Lost connection to cloud server. Player may not be able to join game. Attempting to reconnect..."
Followed a couple seconds later by:

"Connection to cloud server restored."
The game server is running on a M4 Mac mini with OS X and the players with issues are also running OS X. Players running on PCs did not have the issue.
The issue is resolved by going to the server's System Settings: Local Network and switching the Fantasy Grounds entry to on from off.
I have no idea if the setting was ever on in the past or if so, what caused it to turn off, but by making sure it was on resolved the issue.
Hopefully this helps.:)

Thanks Garsun.

In our case though, I (the host/server) was running on a PC, and three of my four players were running PCs. It was only the Mac user that was encountering the issue. Reinstalling the iOS has (for the moment) fixed the issue. Hopefully it doesn't reoccur with the next iOS update. :)

That's why I don't buy Apple products (going back a few decades). From what I can tell, most programs (especially games) are written for use with PC and then ported to be usable on MAC (this goes all the way back to the 80s). I've also noticed similar issues with games originally made for PC then ported over to console systems.

I could be totally wrong here, but I have read and heard of these issues since I was a teenager in the late 80s.

There was also one specific brand of PC that would not play any games with graphics (other than ASCII graphics) in the 80s and 90s. Can't remember which brand it was (I think they also make/made printers and fax machines), but I think it was specifically made for office-work products.

@claedawg, that's not really the case for modern game engines (like Unity, or Unreal, or any of the others that support macOS), they are specifically designed so that you only have to write the game once, and the game engine takes care of the conversions for you.
