Game System & FG Experience: any level is fine, players should familiarize themselves with their characters and basic rules in order to expedite game play. I am a little rusty but we can view specific rules during gameplay
Character Type Preferred: The players should function as a unit and should create complementary characters that form a well-rounded party.

Time Zone: GMT+8
Day of week and time: Saturdays or Sundays evenings GMT+8
Planned start date: Session Zero to be arranged by early March 2025
Planned Duration & Frequency: Bi weekly or biweekly sessions, 4-5 hours each
Term: Long Term Campaign beginning

Very much a game where clever play, player skill, and party cohesion will play a large role in overall success.

Player’s should:

be willing to make the game work for them
be friendly and easy going
do their best to make the game enjoyable for everyone
be consistent in their attendance of sessions
be willing to accept the DM’s rulings in game; discussions can be had after the session and when there is doubt the DM will always rule in favor of the players

I've started playing DnD a little later with the AdnD 2e and as you I've been playing (on and off) every edition since then.

I guess this group needs both players and DM.
I don't think I can be a DM but feel free to do it.

I agree with Mike for the group type with no politics and no super evil alignment that will just force us to play 2 different games at the same time.. (usually DM has to stop often to listen what the evil characters wants to do).

Please write a few lines about your characters. In this way we can see how balance the group will be.

I'm starting from scratch, so I have no characters. Last time I was DM on FG was 2017. Did a short campaign with my adult kids and their spouses. That being said, I would prefer to play to get my feet under me before running a campaign.

I am very flexible with what characters I play. Have always played good-aligned characters and enjoy a balance of RP and melee.

Started playing when it was called AD&D, paperback books, text only. That should date me we'll enough.��

Question: this is for GMT+8. What time to what time were you thinking of? Saturdays are good for me. I'm GMT+9, so I'm close by. Time might be a factor, and not sure about 4-5 hours. Sounds fun, but not sure I can fit it into my family schedule.

As for me, I started with AD&D 2nd ed in 1985, and played regularly for about 10 years. Then stopped for 25 years until coronavirus hit and a guy in my area started setting up 5e groups. I have ultimate license, and have a lot of experience as a GM. I still remember 2e fairly well, but I'm obviously a little rusty (and contaminated with 5e).

It seems we are all busy with family so we can understand each others.
I guess that will be not a problem if we play 3.5hrs instead of 5.

We have all been "contaminated" with the 5e but we can still remove all the unnecessary decors and have an authentic D&D old school vibes campaign.

Do you mean "weekly or biweekly"? for me, really either is okay.

2) Are you still looking for a DM? Of course, I'd love to be a player, but if no DM can be found, I'd be happy to DM, or we can rotate around.

To be honest, I'd like to get back to the simplicity of 2e. I love 5e, but sometimes it feels like too much, and I have fond memories of 2e.

Bonus question, if you're still looking for players, have you tried the Filthy Pig Inn and Tavern Discord? They're a discord for the Australia, NZ, Western Asia Pacific region, and I often advertise games there.

I just advertised a Call of Cthulhu game but no takers.

So, I am in the Eastern Standard time zone of the US, which means GMT is 5 hours ahead of me. A game starting at 7 GMT would be a 2 PM (1400) for me. so, I would be good with any game starting from 1900 to 2100 GMT if the sessions last for 4-5 hours.

AS for characters, I can play any character class - I have played them all over the years and I am happy to allow others to express their preferences first. I would create a complementing character or one which fills a gap in the basic party configuration (FTR, CLR, WIZ and ROG).

- Change to Play once per week - It seems that this can help most of us
- Starting playing on Saturday or Sunday at 19,00 (07,00pm) GMT +8 (ie: 7.00pm here is 11.00am in GMT 0)
- Playing time about 3.5/4hrs
- Edition: Adnd 2e (tbd further)

I see a couple of people started out with 2e in the 80's, what an amazing feat, maybe time machines do exist?

Personally I was restricted to 1e in the 80's and initially the red box that was gifted to me by a good friend.
I started out playing in GMT+8 (Perth, WA) and although I am GMT+0 these days, I am interested in in Saturday's if this was to work out that way. aDnD 1e, 2e or 5e is of interest.
If I fit into the time and game, please consider me as a possible player.

Yeah, sorry. You're right. In 1985 we were playing 1e. I don't remember when we switched to 2e. 1e had some great books. I always liked the name "Fiend Folio", and I loved the cover art. 2e was definitely a bit more streamlined ... but maybe that's just because we skipped a lot of the rules. I feel like 1e had more charts.

Sorry to have stepped in. I thought it was a group of folks looking for a 2e game. I'm currently DM a game every other Saturday at 8:30 pm GMT+8 for a group of fellas. We are looking for 0 - 2 more players to fill in any missing spots the party may have or to help shore up the party on days when not everyone is able to attend.

For blocks of time, M-F mornings or afternoons, Saturday evenings, 8-11 p.m. Have other commitments Sundays.

I am playing a wizard where I did just that. Selected the class based on the group's needs and then rolled the abilities. Did not feel forced at all.

Don't go please. I run a campaign where you roll your stats and choose your class based on your rolls and where you place your stats (that way players can choose the class they want). Come give it a try before you bow out. Come roll your stats!!
