On the 2024 5E versions of the NPC sheets I have noticed that the when inputting ability scores it will apply the appropriate modifier for in both the modifier and saving throw. The issue I have noticed is that while in 2024 version is that it seems to treat the modifier, saving throw, and initiative options as read only you cannot make any of the saving throws have a higher value than their modifier. This does not seem to be related to any issues with extensions either - I have replicated the condition with just using the 5E ruleset without extensions loaded. My current work around is to use the Legacy version of the NPC character sheet during play, but that does seem like a step backward especially when there are official NPCs such as the Cat in the PHB 2024 that do have their NPC sheets correctly reflecting a higher saving throw bonus than their modifier for DEX for example. With the new Monster Manual due to release in a few weeks having the ability modifier, save, and initiative fields being limited to read-only it will hinder custom NPC creation using the new format.
