Hi all, I am currently looking for players to fill out my groups playthrough of Princes of the Apocalypse DMed by yours truely, we play every other Monday starting around 10pm UK time using Fantasy Grounds and Discord for talking, at the moment the group consists of 3 other players (though 1 is currently unable to play for an unknown amount of time) and one other potential player who I'm waiting on confirmation of, as a newcomer to the hobby we started the campaign with has dropped out after deciding it's not for them.
We're looking for 2 possibly 3 other players (as I have a limit of 5-6 players while dming remotely) to join the campaign, we're only 3 sessions in with the players just hitting LVL 2 so don't worry about being lost narrative wise, those who have either read the book (or know about Forgotten Realms lore) need not worry as I will be changing stuff, either to better incorperate player backstories or just not liking certain aspects of the book, as for Forgotten Realms lore while I know a fair bit having grown up playing the likes of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights as well as reading a fair few books set in the realms (mainly revolving around a certain Drow) my knowledge isn't extensive, nor do I much care about getting every facet of the lore correct, if it isn't relavent to the campaign.
I've been DMing on and off for about 16 years now having started for a few years during secondary school with 3.5 before moving back to 2nd Edition (with my love of D&D steming from playing the original Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games as a kid) and picking it back up again while at uni with 5E, my focus is mainly on roleplaying and narrative (being a theater kid) so expect plently of that :)
The party currently consists of a human artificer, an astral elf barbarian and an air genasi warlock (with a possible cleric of undecided race), rules for character creation are simple, we are using the 2014 ruleset and all the official books for that edition are available as well as the two Taldori books, and the gunslinger and bloodhunter, no UA or homebrew stuff and I do not currently own the 2024 versions so those are off the table, we use rolled ability scores (4D6 drop low) with a single reroll for your lowest stat (but you must take the new number) and all races get the option to place their ability score improvements, we roll for health on level up with a single reroll on a roll of a one, and you have the option of your class starting kit or gold roll.
In terms of bringing your characters into the story the premise is simple, for several months now the Dessarin Valley, a collection of caraven towns, small homesteads and unsettled wilderness about a weeks ride from the large city of Waterdeep, has seen growing trouble, while the people settled here are no strangers to raids from bandits and other less civilised denizens of the Sword Coast they are becoming more frequent, also people have begun to notice strange weather pattens and rumors of groups strange hooded figures being seen around the farmsteads and towns at night have begun to spread. But life attempts to continue as it always has, such as in the caravan town of Red Larch, dealing mainly in timber from the surronding forest, livestock from the various surronding farms and stone from the nearby quarry the town has always been prosperous and thriving, being located on the main trade route between the major cities of Waterdeep and Neverwinter, it is there where our story begins, what brought you to Red Larch is up to you, but about a week ago a trio of adventures arrived acting as escorts for a merchant caravan from Waterdeep to the town, their job done they started looking for more work, and left into the wilderness to hunt a group of bandits that had been acousting people on the road, returning a few days later with a new compainion and their hunt successful they left once more to learn the truth of rumors of strange goings on at the nearby monument known as Lance Rock, we pick up a few days later with their return to the town and it is there you meet them.
I look forward to gaming with you :)
