View Full Version : Adding a Window Rectancle Deletes Wall Occudars

When I add a Window to a tile with existing walls it erases some wall oculars. I've seen parts of walls vanish before but it was at the end of a session and thought I might have accidentally deleted them. However today when I was looking for something else, I noticed adding a window deleted some wall segments. It's not just these specific tiles, I noticed some walls missing earlier in another map with different tiles so I made this map shown in the video to check if the map tiles were just missing some walls.

The assets are from the Black Scrolls Dark Crypts Map Pack in the store. I think this was the Tile set Doug first demoed LOS on. For what it's worth, the missing walls were always the inner walls (walls closest to middle of the hall), though I also only connected the window to the inner walls.

I zipped up the test campaign as well.

Edit: I forgot to mention the tile I'm drawing the window on, is the same one that is rotated down at the bottom where some of the walls are missing. On the other map I drew the window on a different tile and the same tile at a different location (and probably rotated) was also was missing walls.

The first one is what I would expect the behavior to be. Notice that you have the scissors (Trim Interior Occluders) turned on? So you are telling FG to trim out the walls to make room for the window.
The second and third examples I would have though would have cut the walls. Don't know why it's not doing that.

You have occluders on every layer. As LE says above if you draw a rectangle window by default the scissors tool will cut out the wall in the middle of the rectangle (Same for any other occluder type, such as doors, if you enable scissors). This will only work if the window you are drawing is on the same layer as the wall you are 'cutting'. I suspect that in your video the wall occluders were on a different layer than the one you selected and thus the windows didn't cut out the walls.

If you don't, for any reason want the window, to cut out the wall (and by doing so negate the utility of the window in that you will not then be able to see through it) then click on the scissors icon so that doesn't happen.

Yeah, but why would the scissors snip other areas that I where I don't have a rectangle? Am I missing something? When I drew the rectangle, two other areas had their walls snipped. I was trying to high light that with the other windows where it messed up. IE I snipped one area and two others were snipped too.

What layer is active and what layer are the occluders on? If you don't have the same layer active that the occluder you want to cut (examples 2 & 3) then they won't be cut. I'll go back and see if I can tell from your video, but I doubt it will show.

I would assume each tile has its own LOS, its a store art pack. Is there any way you can tell?

Oh, yea, I forgot about that. So yeah, each tile will create its own layer and LOS. So you will have to change the active layer to each tile when you want to have the windows cut the occluders. In your video, the top most layer is the one that is currently active.

Windows should trim all of the occluders, not just those on the same layer. So, that's a bug. I will look into that and I'll verify that the trims are working correctly. Thanks.

We just pushed a new update that should improve the LoS line splitting behavior. Please run a new Check for Updates, and let us know if still seeing an issue.

Trimming is working as expected.
