Is there any way to link a token to a 2.5D image, without linking them to a ~token~ character? The idea would be to create a module that would allow replacing a standard token with another, already having the configured image.

I’m not really sure what you mean, but I don’t know of any way of linking something without linking it.

Sorry.
I mean link a token directly to a 2.5D image, NOT to a PC (or NPC).
Then, when I add the token to the PC or NPC, the image will load at the same time without the need of search for it.

No. I'm talking about the 2.5 D image in FG.

No. Tokens in FG are simply an image file placed in a certain folder. They have no database metdata to go with them. 2.5D images have a xml metadata file, but they only have the size and position info for them. They have no reference to other files or database objects.
Did I see a demo or discussion recently about mapping assets having both top down and first person view images linked to them so that when you create maps you just have to place one image and then FG will have both views? Or was that just a demo on what can be done manually?
Anyway, I'm sure SmiteWorks has it on their development roadmap. But never hurts to put it on the feature request list. I would gladly vote for it.

That's exactly what I was remembering. Thanks :)

On a related note (forgive me if it isn't), is there a method to use an already existing map with existing map elements (say trees, for example), and only populate it with the "forward" versions of trees, but in the proper places?
I've been reviewing some recent videos, and was thinking that I have many maps that I would like to spruce up with 2.5 stuff (rocks, trees) but leave the overhead view of the map the same. Some way to delete the top-down portion of the map element after they have been placed?

I do believe so, but finding any assets that match might be a small challenge. If you do not mind that minor issue, I'd say go for it.

Hrm... Let's say that I have a map full of trees. I link some top down and forward images. I then put down all the trees in top down mode, which (because they are linked) also places the front version of those images on the 2.5 map.
I'd like to be able to switch back to the top down map and just see the original map without the new top down images.
Has anyone done this?

You would have to hide them. You could place on a layer in a folder and toggle the visiblity as needed, but rather clunky.

I don't have an answer since I haven't played around with the 2.5d images much; but I assume that you could put all of that on a layer or in a folder and then switch that layer or folder to hidden when you switch views.
