I keep having "Lost connection to cloud service" as well, up and down, up and down. Internet speed up and down are 500+ down and 150+ up, restarted router just in case. Been happening since Sunday Pacific time.

I've moved this post to a new thread as the thread it was posted in wasn't really related to this, with the OP having quite specific local networking questions/issues.

When you experience your issue, please compile the FG logs and post them here.

Usually, up/down connections is indicative of a weak or troubled connection. Sometimes these can be caused by temporary conditions on the Internet nearby your Internet provider.

If still an issue, I would start looking at whether you are running wired vs. wireless, proximity to wireless, etc.; since wireless can have interference issues which can cause interrupted connections. For most cases, a few dropped network packets here or there doesn't cause an issue; but reaching certain timeout thresholds can cause the connection drops, which usually means lots of dropped packets.

I had a similar issue a few months ago. It was the connection to the box. I live in an apartment and my side of the building has all of the apartments on the same terminal that branches out. Somehow, the connection got messed up to where all of the apartments on my terminal were interfering with each other. Comcast had to come out and fix the issue.

I'm having a similar issue. I can run as the DM. Two people who were connecting from other locales (i.e., not in my house) could connect to my campaign. A friend who came over to my house could *not* connect. He kept getting "Lost connection to cloud service" error messages. We were all updated to the same version, as far as I know. I'm not a techie. Once I took over Matruvius, we did not have any issues with Lost Connection. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. (Note, last year we had six of us, all in the same house, and successfully ran Fantasy Grounds. I was not DMing at that time.)

This is the log I found:

How many devices do you have connected to your wifi? Most routers have a limit to the number of devices (computers, phones, etc) it will allow to connect at the same time (theoretically, a signal should be able to support up to 250 devices but I imagine most basic routers would have a hard time with it). Cheap or older routers may only allow about 12-20 devices before significant connection issues. Found that out one Thanksgiving family gathering a few years ago where the limit was about 16 devices. As soon as one person turned of wifi on their phone someone else could connect.

If you are getting constant connect/disconnect errors; then something on your network is causing connections to be dropped.

This is usually due to a couple reasons:
* Caused by settings in your network environment that are attempting to throttle connection (such as quality of service settings, burst settings, or other aggressive security settings),
* Caused by weak/noisy connection (especially wifi or mobile hotspot)

For network environment, some people have actually tested using their phone as a mobile hotspot to check whether it's something on their local network hardware settings or Internet provider settings/services causing an issue. Also, you'll want to review all your settings in any security software you are using on your machine, and all the settings on your Internet router. Make sure to pay special attention to anything that filters, blocks or throttles.

For weak/noisy connection, try plugging in your machine via a network cable if possible to see if that is the issue (or move closer to the wifi hotspot at minimum). Also, run a speed test from your machine to check dropped packets and current speeds compared to what you should be getting from your Internet provider.

Hello,

in my game today we were 4 players, 2 of them could connect normally, but when one of the other two players tried to connect we get the following error message.
"Lost connection to cloud service. Players may not be able to join game. Attempting to reconnect...
Connection to cloud service restored."
This issue has been repeating again and again always the same two people was conecting well and the one of the other two tried the same message.

My router works properly, but we have not been able to fix the error.

This sounds like the two players need to whitelist FGVTT in their anti virus or possibly something on their router like QoS settings or flood protection is causing issues. There is something that is dropping connection or blocking/throttling your connection(s); which is causing the lobby service connection to drop on the host (thus the error message). If the lobby service connection is dropped, then the game is delisted, since there is no longer a connection to send the player clients to. Unfortunately, since the connection gets dropped outside of the program, all that the application knows is that the connection was dropped by the operating system.

That message should only occur on the host machine; so that is the machine having an issue maintaining connection(s). This could also impact your other connections.
Items that could affect the service is weak/spotty wifi (if machine on wifi), Internet connection dropping (weak Internet provider connection), or something blocking/throttling the connections from your machine (especially with burst traffic that occurs when new players connect). We have a Troubleshooting Article that covers some possible settings on machine (security software), router/wifi (security settings), or Internet service provider account to check. In addition to the wiki, make sure to disable any software on your machine that is supposed to "speed up" or otherwise manage/modify network connections.

Thank you.

I checked the links, you shared with the players who couldn't join the game and everything seems to be ok, the problem is that two players can join the game normally but the other two cannot. So I donīt think there is a problem withe the host machine.

We are all using the last version update (4.7.2), and I donīt use wifi conection but wired.

regards.

It can still be a problem with the host machine; since security/throttling settings may not happen immediately. I would definitely check the host setup too.

My group has also frequently had this issue over the last couple of months. It would be really helpful to have some type of server status web page and/or tools to test connection. I also tried LAN and though online tools show the port open clients can never connect, just perpetual attempting connection on the client side. no indication of connection on the server side.
A tool to test connection when self-hosting would also be very helpful!

If the GM machine can talk to the lobby server; then it will show up in the lobby list.
If the player machine can talk to the lobby server; then they will see the list of games in the launch screen.

Since the GM is the host machine for the actual game and players connect directly to the GM machine; there is no other way we can provide information on availability of a GM machine other than whether it has registered itself with the lobby server, and is indicating it is ready to accept connections.
