View Full Version : When Will FX be fixed?

4.6 updated killed a lot of the effects as well as the ability to correctly mask off areas of the effects. There have been a few posts about it here but I haven't seen anything saying it will be fixed. Is this issue on the "to do" list so we can get back to using them?

I'm not seeing any issues with fx (I didn't see any before either to be fair) and I've just added an ocean effect with a mask to a map I'll be using in my game tonight. So it may be worthwhile you zipping up your campaign and posting here specifically pointing out what fx you are experiencing a problem with so that the devs can take a look.

The rain effects aren't working, clouds don't work and when I mask something, it moves it on the map. I tried to mask "ocean" today and all it did was make the whole map ocean again. How do I zip a campaign and put it up here?

Right click on the campaign folder and select Send to.. and then on Compressed file. Make a new post and click on Go advanced at the bottom and then on manage attachments, browse for the file and click add. You may find that it's too big (especially if you have a lot of very large images in it) in which case you may have to upload the file to something like dropbox and provide a link to it so that the devs can download it.

Before I give it a shot, it's 258 MB. Is that too large of a file?

And I just wanted to be sure it wasn't that one campaign so I started another one that was bare bones Savage Worlds and the same effects aren't working there either

Yes, 258Mb is too big for a forum attachment.

I'm not sure whether the ruleset would make a difference. I'm using 5e and my campaign is only 14Mb. So I'm not sure where the issue lies. Either way the more campaigns that the devs can take a look at with different maps and map types the easier it will be for them to pin point any issues. So thanks for taking the time to do this.

Edit: On a side note I just tested rain and clouds and I can confirm that those aren't working. Ocean works but I've also been able to replicate the masking issue that you talked about. Although when I did this earlier it worked fine and is still working - so that's not weird at all.

Ok, good to know it's not just something on my end.

I can confirm that I too experienced masking issues on FX, specifically masking an ocean effect on a river map. I have not tried again in the last few days but I'll test it again this evening and report back if I notice any differences.

I can confirm this is still broken.

I used blizzard to make it more visible, but it's the same with any kind of FX. Moving the camera and changing the FX type moves the mask around the image.

Yup. I hope this gets resolved soon as I run two different games a week on FG

We just pushed v4.6.1 that fixes certain FX types from not displaying. Please run a new Check for Updates, and let us know if you are still having any issues.

While I can say that all FX's are working now, the masking still doesn't line up correctly. You can see in the picture I've attached that it offsets itself from where it is actually drawn from. I used Sepia so it can easily be seen62944

The masking might be off from previous issues; if you drew it previously or loading an older map previously.
If it's a module map, can you please try to use the Revert option to reset it back to the default?
If that doesn't work or if it's a campaign map, please send the zipped up copy of the campaign.

Thanks,

Its one of my maps and that was a newly drawn mask. I can try to revert and see if that works, but I don't know how to revert. Can you tell me how to do that?

You can only Revert records opened from a module; since that command is basically saying to revert back to the original record before any changes.

If the map was just added to a campaign directly, you'll either need to remake it; or I'll need a zipped up copy of campaign and the name of the map (so I can see if I can get information from Carl on how to fix manually). There was a short period where masks/etc. got incorrectly mapped to the coordinates for the image record.

Removed the map and added a new one with a new file name and it still won't mask correctly. The campaign file size is 200mb+. How do I get the zipped folder to you?

Dropbox or Google drive and share it via DM to Moon Wizard will work.

Just adding my voice I'm also seeing this issue.

I believe that the fixes we have queued for the Tuesday update will resolve that issue. I'll post when it is available.
