I'm currently transcribing several different books into fantasy grounds (The OSE Dark Sun players guide and Referee, a couple Birthright books, among others)

Do I need a completely separate campaign built for each book? Its starting to get really crowded (I think i have 12, several actual playing campaigns and the rest for building modules)

Is this the only way to do it? How many campaigns can I build in FGU?

Also, after my book is built, can I then delete the campaign I built it on and still have the book in my modules?

I guess it doesn't matter if there's an unlimited number of campaigns i can build. I just keep feeling like "I'm gonna hit my max now"

The space on your computer dictates how many campaigns you can create as it fills a db.xml file with the data of your campaign. Along with any assets you include in that campaign. The recommended use of a development campaign for each module is there to help if you want to update information or fix issues without it being corrupted by play. Using the space for all of the modules will make a giant module that may hit a limit on the data a module can manage. You can remove campaigns if you want, but then you'll have to redo the campaign if you want to make changes that you want permanent. So the recommendation is what we do for the commercial modules, but it's only a recommendation and you are ok to do as you see is perfect for your situation.

I create at least 1 hundred campaigns every year - probably way more than that. Most of them I nuke along the way.

You should ALWAYS keep your module development campaign.
You can back it up and store it elsewhere if it is visually bothering you but dont delete it - you will at some point want to go back and make edits and you wont be able to without the builder campaign..

Lord Entrails has put this guide together also: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?33538-Adventure-Module-Creation-Best-Practices

Note, the guide talks about creating Story entries. That portion is out of date and you will want to actually create a Book with pages as you can also embed images into the pages of your Book.

In case this wasn't clear from the previous posts ALL your campaign data resides on your OWN computer. There isn't anything that you create stored on the FG servers. Unless one of course makes something and uploads it to the forums or Forge.

So the limit on campaigns is how big your drive space is.

With that said ALWAYS remember the 3-2-1 rule for backup in case your computer has issues. And do NOT have your live campaign info in a cloud auto-synced location. This has been known to corrupt campaigns from time to time. Look at my sig for a batch file that qill auto-copy to a cloud location every time you get done with FG.
