View Full Version : Tokens Shifting when dropped on Map

I am working on setting up a new campaign for OOTA Velkynelve Player map. When I drag a token from the CT and place it on a map, it shifts. Attached is a video of this happening.

I can replicate this on OotA maps and also on Princes of the Apocalypse maps but not on any more recent modules. The recent modules are all wepb images whereas OotA and PotA are .jpg. So it would seem it's the map format that is the issue.

Edit: Perhaps a related issue, but drawing a pointer with both mouse buttons held down results in a similar jump when the buttons are released (only on .jpgs).

It might not be the image format, but based on other posts it may be the pixels per grid square that contribute to this issue. What are the grid settings for the maps that work and don't work?

My first thought also, but the grid size doesn't seem to be the issue here. I tested with various grid sizes and the decimal ones behaved the same as the integer ones. But any .jpg maps did the jumpy thing. I edited my original post as well since it's also happening with pointers.

Attached is an image of the grid settings of the map I mentioned above. These are official maps that WOTC provided to SW for these adventures.

Last night, it was doing the very same thing in The Shattered Obelisk, a newer module. I was not the DM and did not know if the map was MPEG or JPG. The map that was the culprit was the very last boss fight, which ended the entire campaign. I don't want to be giving any spoilers. Moving the token with the keyboard worked fine, but the token did these jumps to the upper right when you clicked on it, as would the pointer arrows. Maybe this is add'l info that helps you narrow this down.

Two players who deal somewhat with programming made some comments about this and one of them was receiving error messages. I wish I could recall what they were and what they were saying. It sounded like it couldn't anchor to a spot or something like that.

I've been having the same issue with both editions of Pathfinder. Tokens are very difficult to place/move on a grid, and pointers are off as well. It was happening tonight with my old Mummy's Mask campaign, but I had the same issue last night with the much newer "Sky King's Tomb".
Keyboard movement is fine, if you can actually get a token on to the grid.

Just pushed a new build that should fix the token mouse movement issue. Please run a Check for Updates, and let us know if you're still having issues.
