This stems from a discussion here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?82641-Blade-Ward-2024-PHB

The effect ATK: -1d4 should be set to self and the character would then SHIFT drag the effect onto all enemies (or apply the effect to themselves and then use the targeting reticule to apply the effect to all enemies). However this doesn't work and the enemies aren't getting the -1d4 to attacks. So I suspect that there is a bug in the effect targeting system somewhere?

Doing it that way would set it so that you would have -1d4 to your attack roll when attacking the specified enemies, rather than giving them -1d4 when they attack you - it's the same as the Vow of Emnity setup from the wiki (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996642031/5E+Effects+for+Advanced+Automation#Specific-PC-Ability%2FTrait-Examples)...

Of course you are quite correct. It would need to be applied to the target and then dragged from there using the targeting reticule back to the caster.

Nothing to see here.

Perhaps a new command is in order. There is already the GRANTADVATK and GRANTDISATK, maybe a new grant command for attack roll and damage modifiers would help and make it less confusing???

BCEG recently added "GRANTATK".

"GRANTATK: -1d4" seems to achieve what you are talking about.

Sounds like an idea for the Feature Request if its not there already. Maybe come up with a list of several rather than request individual effects one at a time.

Well, since BCEG has already added that command line, I guess everything that BCEG has ever added would be a good start, lol. It is pretty comprehensive.

I don't think you are setting up the effect correctly. At least I've never seen it applied like you are trying to do. Don't think it's supposed to work that way. Normally ADVATK is applied to attacks made by the creature with the effect applied to it. So FG is behaving as I expect. I see that you have applied a target to an effect, But I don't believe ADVATK supports that. It's interesting that the option is there though.

What I would expect is that in the action button the target is who the effect should be applied to, and for ADVATK this would normally be "self" since you are giving ADVATK to the PC. Maybe I'm missing something though. How did you apply the effect?

Thank you for the fast response. I held down the shift key, selected the effect from my character sheet (It’s a Self Effect) and dragged and dropped it onto Assassin 1.

I've never done that. Don't know if its supported or not. Hopefully someone else will come along shortly and confirm one way or antoher :)

You need to end the ADVATK effect with a colon thus ADVATK: . Set the targeting to Self and either place the effect on yourself and then use the targeting reticule to drag the effect onto whoever you get advantage against or as you say use SHIFT+Drag onto the target).

Thank you for the explanation Zacchaeus. I will be away for some time but will be sure to fix the mistake once I get back. Thank you all for the helpful responses.

Zacchaeus,

Thank you for the correction on adding the : at the end of the effect. I failed to read the exact wording on the wiki.

This helps tremendously. Thank you all and happy gaming!
