Available free in the FG Forge: https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/1982/view

How to use: Activate the "Fail Forward" extension and module for your 5E campaign.

"Fail forward" is a popular house rule that can happen when a character rolls a skill check that would normally fail, but the DM instead rules that the character succeeded except with some twist or complication. For example, a character attempts an Acrobatics skill check to avoid falling into a pit trap. The DM might rule that, although the roll was less than the DC, the character succeeds, but his weapon falls into the pit. This extension will perform a roll (just shown to the DM) on the "Skill Fail Forward" table to suggest a possible outcome.

This extension is designed to offer the DM a "fail forward" option when a PC's skill check matches or just misses the DC. Most skill checks don't have a DC by default, so this is designed to work with the (highly recommended!) Requested Rolls (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/273/view) extension.

Current options are Off, Within 1, Within 2 (the default), or Within 3. For example, "Within 2" would perform the extra roll when a skill check roll matches the DC (a success - barely), or misses by 1 or 2.

A similar "succeed with style" option was added. If a skill check exceeds the DC by at least 5, an extra roll on the "Skill Succeed with Style" table will be shown to the DM.

Note this only works if you do a SKILL CHECK, not just a plain Check.
