View Full Version : Is there a possibility to change the base die of a skill check?

I recently started to run DCC, which is a new system for me. AFAIK skill checks are just attribute checks, but if the character is untrained in something their base die is d10. The default die, when grabbing it from the character sheet is a d20. Can this be changed on the fly by using a modifier or something like this? Maybe there is something to do a -4d just the like modifiers in the bottom left (since d20 -4d should be d10)

You mean like this? Bottom left of the screen.

62431

Yeah, I know about this. But I need a -4d modifier, not a -3d

In the skills tab I created 6 skills with attribute names and a d10 to roll :)

Oh that's a nice workaround. Do you maybe have some workarounds for the halfling's 'minimum agility of 16'?

I don‘t really know what you mean.
If its the two weapon fighting, if I remember correctly, it should be implemented into the system :)

Yeah the halfling two-weapon fighting skill is integrated into the ruleset. Just click the "2-Weapon Fighting" check box on the Actions Tab; the character has to be on the Combat Tracker too for it to work properly, if I'm remembering correctly.
And it registers a crit on a nat 16.

I don't fully understand this. If the agility is considered to be 16, then the bonus should also be +2 when attacking, but the system doesn't accord for that. The d16 are correct, but not the modifiers

Could it be that agility only determines the die sizes and you still attack with strength?

Yeah, what Loco said. DCC doesn't have a "finesse" melee weapon designator; unless you want it to that is. The halfling two-weapon rule is melee only.

Thanks for the clarifications. I'm kinda new to the system

It's all good. Ask any questions you have here; someone usually answers fairly quickly.
