I'm thinking of translating the entire Player's handbook 2024 within FGU. I bought it in English, but I want to use it in Portuguese. Is it possible? Is it legal? What is the best way to do this, without losing automation within the FGU?

Personal use it is legal. It would be illegal for you to redistribute it, even for free.
If you remove the English from the character/NPC options (feats, classes, spells, attacks etc), then you will break automation. I think you can add Portuguese entries after the English ones and keep the names English and you will be fine. But I would suggest you do a few and test if the solution works well enough for you.

Thanks for the quick answer LordEntrails.

This is one place I can see a LLM ai being of use. Real-time translations. That way the Player's and GM's don't even need to speak the same language. :)

That would be perfect.

I agree, AI is getting better and faster. One thing about translation is that one might need to wait a bit longer due to the fact that the errata will likely be coming up.
