Has anyone had any importing NPCs created using the BCHolmes online tool?

When I try it reports the XML has been imported, but there's just no sign of the NPC in FG.

I don't want to spend too much time on this if this is just a known bug.

Welcome to the forums.

I don't know the startrek ruleset nor the BCHolmes thing; but I couldn't find an NPC creator only a PC one. So are you looking in the correct place for the imported character? Also the character sheet may have changed and it's possible that the xml exported from the website isn't in the correct format any more.

The character creator tool is the one here...

I think I've got to the bottom of it. Although it has options to create NPCs, the XML it generates will only import as a Player Character instead of an NPC. I'm guessing the designer of the tool initially built it for Foundry which uses the same type of "Actor" object for both PCs and NPCs, but didn't recognize that Fantasy Grounds uses different objects for the two.

I guess nobody must be using this with FG for it not to have been flagged up before, as I believe this is a pretty mature, well established app.

It has been raised as an issue: https://github.com/bcholmes/StarTrek2d20/issues/120

I submitted several exported characters, but I haven't done much (anything) testing the import. It also didn't occur to me to import NPCs. As BCHolmes doesn't own FG, and I appear to be the only one who was active for that issue but ended up not doing much testing, it probably stalled out. I haven't actually run many games in FG, and I have no problem creating characters within FG itself (in fact prefer it), so as a non-issue for me I forgot about it.

I just tweaked it yesterday. See if it works the way you expect it to, now.
