Just purchased my FG Ultimate license but set up an account the prior year for a potential game back then. I know I should learn more about being a FG player before stepping up to GM on FG in the future. I played and DMed D&D since 2nd Ed but prefer both 3.5 & PF1st. I would love to get in on one of these new campaigns as a player.

I bet if you GM the game, you will get people that are interested to play. Would allow you to make the schedule and play a whole slew of different characters. Granted it places you behind the screen, but that really isn't a bad place to be. Prep work is minimal if you are running a converted AP* and are willing to buy it. But if you already own the PDF, sync drops the price down a bit or you can create it the way you want and run it that way.




*That statement is debatable. I have run across some conversions that are missing items or have things that are not built in the modules. Hell's Rebels is one such module.

my group is running that on saturdays right now the GM has said hes had to change A LOT to make it playable and he's getting kinda stressed trying to keep up the prep. i would suggest you check out some DM reddits about it before you lock it in.

Thanks for the tip... that is EXACTLY what I have been doing... there are some really excellent ideas for 'fixing' it especially books 3-5. I ran it YEARS ago when it first came out and so have an idea of the rough spots, but again thanks for the pointer...

**Details of your scenario:** *Deep in the Mindspin Mountains, a storm giant warlord has seized control of a cloud castle and an Orb of Dragonkind, and is gathering an army of giants from across western Avistan—first to bring the orc hordes of Belkzen under his banner, then to conquer the neighboring realms. Heroes defending the human towns from orc raids discover that the attack is just a precursor to the Storm Tyrant's larger plans. Working their way through an abandoned border fort, an ancient giant temple, the tomb of an undead frost giant, and an elite fire giant training facility beneath a dormant volcano, the heroes eventually take the fight to the Storm Tyrant himself inside his flying fortress. Can the giant army be defeated before it can conquer the human lands of the Inner Sea, or will all of Avistan bow down in fealty to the Storm Tyrant?*

Ah, I remember a time not long ago when all the DM's wrote their own campaign stories. Players never knew what was going to happen next. The good old days!

Cause a ap sounds more interesting to me had way too many bad experiences with homebrew to even bother with it anymore but ok lol

Well, building a world is tough and some GMs aren't very good at it. But on the other hand, you don't really need to build a world. I prefer to take an established campaign setting and tailor adventures to the party members. Let players make up backstories and bring in NPCs from those backstories. Maybe a knight was abandoned by his parents as a child. I might create an adventure to rescue his mom, who was abducted by orcs. The knight finds out he wasn't actually abandoned, he was sold off by the same orcs who took his mother and killed his father. And now maybe he has a younger brother who is a half-orc. Plot twist!

An AP is cool, but the completion rate for most groups is very low.
