View Full Version : Negating the damage on a successful save

Any damaging spell with the descriptor: "Saving Throw: XXX negates". The Level 1 Whelm spell, for example.
Disclaimer: I'm pretty new to FGU, but this looks like a bug.

As you'd recall, in the "Spell/Ability Use" window, Damage options are "-" and "Half on Success".
"-" seems to be the way to go when DC fields are filled in.
But..

Casting the spell for a single target, and then rolling the dice deals the damage in full regardless of the save (targeting unchanged).
When I select multiple targets however (ignoring the one target rule of the spell, just for testing purposes), the spell seems to work as intended, although how it seems to work is those targets that make the save are cleared from the Targets list. And whoever remains (those who couldn't make the save) gets the damage.

So how does Negate Damage work for single targets?
This a bug, or what am I missing?

Thanks

If save succeded, just don't roll for damage :F

I don't know the 3.5 ruleset terribly well; but there is an option in the 'Per User' section Target: Remove on miss. I think if you set this to on then if a target succeeds on a save then it will be removed from targeting. Having said that this option is better when set to Multi.

For sure, but some players never recall it's negate vs half or vs anything really.
But I understand it's as intended, having read Z's reply.

Thanks.
