We would probably need to see your log files to be sure https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1242136781/How+to+Compile+Logs but generally such issues are caused by something blocking the files being sent to you from your DM. This is usually anti virus software (which may well still be active even if disabled) or some setting on your routre (or one being made by your ISP and only accessible from their website). Here are two articles to review https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1981349889/Network+Troubleshooting and https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1303052290/Whitelisting+or+Creating+Exceptions+for+Antivirus+ Applications

It may also be that your DM has shared too much and you are running out of memory. They could tyr using the /flushdb command in chat when no-one is connected which will clear all shared material for all players. They could then unshare any modules that don't need to be shared and review whether any large images need to be shared and if not unshare those as well. Once players re-connect they will download whatever remains shared.

@Azronical - try clearing the cache directory for the campaign(s) that are having the issues. Open up the <FG app data>\cache directory and delete the directory with the name of the campaign. Get to <FG app data> by clicking the folder icon in the top left of the main FG startup window.

That's unfortunate. I've been seeing the same issue on different computers recently and the fix has always been exiting FG and deleting the local player cache for the campaign, then reloading FG. An uninstall/reinstall doesn't change the local data (including the cache), the player needs to manually delete the cache data on their computer.

I manually deleted every fg file from my computer then reloaded. no such luck there...

Please take a screenshot of the <FG App Data>\cache\<Campaign name> directory, with file details enabled and upload that here - so that we can see the size of the cache files, when they were modified, etc.. This might help us to identify if there is an issue with the cache data.

Thanks for that.

In the first post you mention "Most of the maps and images." - which maps and images can you see? Are they from within DLC you own and have installed locally, or are they images shared from the GMs campaign or images shared from DLC the GM owns? From the files in the cache folders it appears that the GM has shared data from a module called "Against the Concordance" and from the campaign.

it seemed like i could see images from some of his chapters in the module but some chapters i couldnt. all of the images we tried where imported by him and not an official module.

I'm one of the GMs - we tested with several random images from my campaign after Azronical fully removed and reinstalled FG and could not find a pattern in what images came through and which did not. The weirdness is that something similar is happening for Az in two different campaigns with two different GMs, and the same group of players are in both campaigns but only Az is seeing a problem.

How large dimensionally are the shared map images? Images above 4K in dimensions can be problematic. About 4000x4000 or larger.

I am the other GM. The issue actually occurred earlier for with me a few months ago with a previous map. Both were in the realm of 5000x10000 pixels. While I have shared other big pictures, generally images used as maps are only about 4000x4000 max. My maps are all individual files imported. The other GM has all of their images bound into modules.

I will say ive never had this issue till recently and some rather small pictures wouldn’t show either.

Trenloe

Another thing to consider is the possibility of network flood protection/throttling taking over - a few images will transfer at the beginning of a campaign (usually this is previously shared images that weren't downloaded and cached when originally shared) but then the network will reach a threshold and stop receipt thinking there's the need for flood protection.

You can see if this is the issue in the player side console.log file snippets shown below - there's something like the following will appear once the initial loading of FG occurs. This is the player side requesting files from the GM:

The other images requested weren't received by the player instance because there was communication blocking that kicked in at this point. Unfortunately this can be caused by different things. The first place to look is on both the GM and Player side Internet routers - for any form of flood protection. There may also be advanced security provided by the ISP outside of the local router that does something similar, which can annoyingly kick in for a certain communication path, but not others - so sometimes it will effect only one player in a group.

Im assumiong if this is the issue and cant find a way to turn off the flood protection a solution would be to reduce the amount of files so it never kicks in?

Okay, gotcha. These types of things and 'numerous' map larger image like things add up quickly.

As you can see from the example I provided above, in this user's setup the issue occurred after only a handful of files. I think it would be extremely hard to reduce the files shared and still have a good, playable experience.

Yes, thanks Trenloe for helping us narrow down to root cause and getting to the point where we at least now have a work-around (private VPN). We never would have guessed the issue would be with the ISP. The information you provided will be very helpful to Az if he decides to open a support ticket with them.
