View Full Version : Perplexed on Creating New Campaigns

Hi Folks,
Hopefully this is something that I'm just being stupid about. In the past, if I remember correctly, I could create a folder in the Campaign folder with the name of a new Campaign and then copy the extensionstate.xml and modulestate.xml files along with the moduledb folder into the new campaign folder. I then would launch FGU and that campaign would show up as an option to choose to launch. For some reason, I'm not seeing this on the launch screen to launch the new campaign. What is even more odd is, when I went into the FGU application and created a new campaign and launched it and then went back into the campaign folder to add these files/folders, I'm not able to find it in the campaign folder at all. Yet, when done this way, it does show on the campaign launch screen. I know it must be something stupid I'm doing but I'm actually perplexed at this point as I'm pretty certain I've been doing this for a while now (though it's been a bit as our previous campaign lasted over a year).

As a final question, for the existing options chose from a previous campaign that you want to reuse, is there a file that I would be able to copy over?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

The main file that needs to be in place is the campaign.xml (and possibly the db.xml). If you're attempting to copy settings like you're doing, I suggest creating the campaign folder first, exiting FG, then copying over the files.

Some options are saved in the CampaignRegistry.lua file and others are stored in the db.xml file. So if you want to set up all of the options and ensure that each campaign starts off the same then create a new campaign and set the options that you want (and share modules etc as well). Then, when you want to start a new campaign, copy that campaign folder and rename the copy to whatever campaign name you want.
