Hi,

we have a few player controlled companions, a Shield Guardian, Dancing Item and Steel Defender. The players control them.

The players end their turns with pressing "Next Actor" but they can't press "Next Actor" to end the companions turns, so the dm has to press it every time.

Is there an option we miss? Or do we have to change something on the npcs in the combat tracker?

greetings

Depends how you define those "player controlled companions". The "party vision and movement" and dragging and dropping CT link entry onto player portrait on host is a poor bandaid for ownership.

You probably need an extension if you want true control.

If "Friend Zone" is working - its free so I'd recommend trying that if it works for your ruleset.

Just create the companions as PCs. Much easier than trying to own NPC records or using extensions. Players can own multiple PCs.

Although players can to some extent control NPCs such as you mention they don't actually own them - the DM does. And so the DM is the only one that can press the next actor button to end such an NPCs turn. So you aren't missing anything.

In my world you own them. You are missing lots. Just FYI :)
