Good Day All :)
I have tried to read up on the new D&D stuff coming out and mostly I seem to see they are eliminating some subclasses and adding others while increasing the power of those that are added/remain.

My problem with this is I already have problems balancing encounters with the system that is in place, especially at higher levels.

I have not seen anything really for the Monster Manual to see if the creatures have a similar increase in power, is there any info I missed?

To me this system sounds great for the payers but a lot more work as the DM... (In other words, it sounds like every upgrade to an MMO where all the old stuff you worked so hard for becomes obsolete, I am looking at you Everquest and Epic weapons that took months to get being outpowered by weapon drops from mobs!)

I'm waiting until stuff actually comes out. IMO, at this point it's mostly speculation and fears driven by teasers that have been released to date.

The developers have stated that while they are not going to change the CR of any current monsters, they are going to modify some that they view as underpowered for their current CR. Also, there are going to be ~75 new monsters, including new high-CR monsters like the arch-hag and something called the "blob of annihilation."

IIRC, monsters will tend to get the treatment that they did in MotM, which means that a lot of monsters which used to have the "Magic Weapons" trait will likely be doing Force damage rather than magical B/P/S. That may be a ~nerf in so far as resistance to force is usually harder to get than resistance to B/P/S.

The other MotM-style change that might be considered an increase in threat level, if it extends to the Monster Manual 2024, was that various NPC stat blocks replaced spells with innate abilities with similar effect. Mechanically, whether something is actually a spell or is merely an ability that resembles a spell matters because of things like Counterspell being strictly specific to the former.
