Hey all, I have a general question about the FG system & the licensed products. I am trying to push the software on my small gaming group. They arent too keen on spending the $20 apiece. I am planning on running a SW setting. If I purchase the full client, plus the SW license, do my players need the SW license as well, or will they be able to partake in my SW setting with their base client?

For that ruleset, only the GM needs the Savage Worlds purchase.

Point out to your small gaming group that if any of them saw Die Hard 4, they could have owned FG2 instead.

Fantasy Grounds II is way better than Die Hard 4.

Point them to the Gallery here for some more shots, too--and the Screenshots folder looks SO much better now, too.

Thanks guys for the replies! I am fairly certain I am going to get the full license this evening. Hope its friendly to stupids! :)

If I were to find a game that I wanted to partake in, are there licenses that I would have to buy to partake?

Also, does the client run in a window? If it does run in a window, can I alt tab to desktop?

It runs in a window by default. For the most part you only need to buy a ruleset if you are RUNNING a game. The person running usually pushes the files from the ruleset needed to play to the others.

With a full FG licence you can play or run the default d20 rules as well. When you get the Savage Worlds license you can *run* SW games. Without the SW license a full version of FG could also just play SW if the GM had the SW license.

I believe almost all the recent Digital Adventures Products work the same way. Only the GM needs to get them and he can force load over the player's part of the rules. Players do have to make characters while connected to the server though. DA does have some products where everyone needs to get a copy like the Complete SRD.

As a general rule as a player you don't usually need anything to play other than a FG license. On FG licenses in general, if any of the others in your group run they should also get a full license because there is no upgrade from lite to full.

FG runs at 1024x768 by default. You can maximize it.
