I was working on some updates to a campaign. I attempted to open an image which was a simple picture of a prominent NPC the party is interacting with. I've used the image multiple times in the past.

However, when I opened it to today, something went wrong, the image never loaded, and FGU became non-responsive. I eventually had to kill the session.

I figured I would just reopen FGU would be fine, but it isn't. It continues to try to load that image on load, fails to do so, and FGU becomes completely unresponsive as I result. I can't do anything now.

I'm not sure what to do to prevent the problematic image from automatically being loaded when I restart FGU. Please help!

Update:

I did eventually get FGU to load without the image automatically opening (I don't really know how). I've now found that many of my images that had effects on them are all corrupted and unusable. I'm really frustrated with updates breaking content I've already created.

It's hard enough being a DM without wondering what the next update is going to break all the time.

Please Compile Logs and attach here.

You can try moving the image out of the location it is in. I assume it is a campaign image? Open the FG Data Folder via the folder icon on the launch screen. browse into the campaigns/<campaign name>/images folder and move the image from there.
Also make sure you have completely restarted your computer (not shutdown and reopened, Win 11 doesn't actually shutdown by default with the shutdown command, it just hibernates).

Some things that may be causing this issue. First are you using any extensions? If so try disabling the extensions before starting your campaign. Another thing to consider is how big is the db.xml file for this campaign, and how big is the images folder inside the campaign. How big is the image that you have an issue with? How many images are listed in your campaign and how big are those. How many modules do you have open in your campaign? Are you using any kind of cloud based back up for your data? Is your data folder being synced to that cloud based solution?

It sounds like either the image that you are trying to load is corrupted or a format that FG doesn't understand; or that you are running out of memory or possibly disc space; or FG is trying to save to a cloud based solution whilst something else is going on - causing loss of data or corruption of data. The log files may help in diagnosing the issue; but cleaning up the campaign (closing unneeded modules, removing large image files from the campaign/images folder, unsharing images that are no longer needed by the players, not using a cloud based solution for your data) may also be on point.
