Hello!!!

Have been searching in google and in the forum with no luck.

Is there a way/extension to add effects on tokens ? Like when you add a light effect for example but in a asset token.

I can workaround it by creating an NPC with the effect on it like Grease but it will be easier if a simple token placed on the main layer or in another layer can be subject of effects like aura effects for the grease example.

Any anwers wil be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Assets can't hold effects, not even with an ext.

There are a couple EXTs that can place effects directly on an NPC/ITEM/PC.

The most common one is Advanced Effects.

Also, things need to be in the CT to have an effect applied to them.
Exception to this is lighting effect, some reason things can have lighting on them.

Also note, I'm pretty sure that when you set the asset filter to token, you can not place it on a layer.

You can add lighting to a token once it's on the map (using the lighting panel) - see "token light" here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996640166/Working+with+Images+as+the+GM#Lighting

Other than that, you can't add an effect to a token that isn't tied to an entry in the combat tracker as effects are also tied to the combat tracker.

Tokens can be used as layer asset/stamp. You’ll have to drag it in the appropriate section in the image control panel for that. If you drag a token asset from the assets window to the map, it will indeed place it as token.

Using spell tokens can be tricky.
Make sure your spell assets tokens are in the tokens folder, not just images. Drag the tokens you want to use in your session to the hot key. Sometimes the scale or diameter might need manual adjustment, depending on the image scaling or size.
In the map tools, lighting section, go to token lighting and create or select a lighting effect if appliciable.
Click on a given token on your battle map to assign the lighting. I also manually edited my spell tokens to scale and also manually edited to be about 25% more transparent and see through because the spell tokens I have would essentially cover up anything under them. Token stacking can now be resolved in Fantasy Grounds by right clicking on a given token and sending it back or forward.

(Note: This will not look very good with non-transparent images too well)

I'm just spit-balling here, but there could be a way to apply 1 visual effect on all player tokens using vision.
Dark vision cuts through a mask and shows the underlying image. Could a similar "effect vision" be used to only show a global FX layer mask within a character's "effect vision" area? say 5?

You mean something like?
truesight; vismax: 5

More like

VISION: 5 truesight

And I cannot see it ignoring a mask.
