View Full Version : Remove Duplicate Results when Rolling on a Table?

Title pretty-much says it all. I'm trying to generate a spell book on-the-fly, by having the table roll 15 different entries. Unfortunately, I have wound up with as many as 4 duplicate entries in one pass. Is there any way to specify to ignore a roll, or hide a duplicate and reroll?
I'm using a story template to handle the results of the table.
Thanks!

Not really, no. Each roll on a table doesn't pay any attention to what has gone before and there's no mechanism to reroll an already rolled entry (this would be a good way to potentially have infinite rolls if it was available). The only way to do such a thing would be to roll once on each of 15 different tables each of which had unique spells. You can reduce the chances of repeats by increasing the number of tables and reducing the number of rolls on each table (and having many spells on each table).

This extension would allow you to do that.

Nice, never thought of using the Card Tables in that way. Nice idea :)

I just downloaded it a couple of days ago and plan on using it for my hexcrawl encounter tables. I have set adventures for many of the encounters and now I can just check a radio button to make sure it doesn't show up again.

So at this point, it's just dilute the results until there's no way a duplicate could happen, basically?

! Ohhh this is interesting.. thanks!
Lots of applications for this. It also reminds me of the old spell card decks you used to be able to get for D&D. :D

Card Tables worked perfectly! The only problem I'm having is getting the results to format properly. For example:
[15x][Cantrips] with Cards selected and A&S turned on, gives me 15 different entries from the Cantrips selection, but they're all unformatted in a jumble:

How do I format them so that they're one entry per line? I looked at the Story Template page on the wiki, and it doesn't mention any formatting options?
