View Full Version : Water FX Layer Mask misbehaving when switching between 2D-3D

Yeah, it's me again. :P

So I created this map that has some flaming buildings, and used the old trick of putting a masked Water FX layer to make the flames appear as if moving. Thing is, when I switch to 3D, the water effect disappears (which isn't much of an issue for me if I'm to be honest). But when I switch back to 2D, the Water FX layer mask seems to have shifted coordinates and is no longer where it's supposed to be. If I change the image size (by which I mean switching maximize mode, not resizing the image window), the coordinates are restored.

In my map I also had a clouds FX layer that was unmasked. That seems to be working just fine.

I have uploaded an unlisted 45" video on YouTube showcasing what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/G7i4mmGHyhc?si=q0n-ThKZlWUG_btu

To be sure, I exported the image to a clean 5e campaign w/ no extensions and the bug persists (the vid is actually from that test).

This has happened to me as well. It's almost like the layer is moved or stretched to try to map across the 3D space, but when one reverts back to the original 2D map, the call to that position has been permanently left altered as opposed to being redrawn with the new 3D origin coordinates, this another potential layer. Does the X,Y,Z coordinates calculate from a predefined zero axis, or does it follow a true position coordinates system overall?

Can you provide a copy of your test campaign? I have not been able to reproduce this. Thanks.

Here you go Carl. I also have a video link to the point where I saw this odd behavior too. The frequency of luck for these things happening during a live stream is astounding. LOL

Campaign attached.

The fix provided by @pindercarl has been pushed with v4.5.5 today.

Problem persists after update.

EDIT: So, after exploring some more, the problem persists with maps that I had made before yesterday's update. However, new maps work correctly. Eh, I'll take it. Already used the "broken" map last week. :P

If you can provide those older maps, I'd still like to take a look.
