View Full Version : 4.5 UX Issues

First complaint after 8 years of using FG weekly... and last night's game with 4.5 was a struggle to say the least. FG has never been intuitive, and RTFM isn't always helpful—losing track of what should be features vs. bugs. Whether a DMs Guild or Forge extension will error out is always a crapshoot.

End users expect general UX standards from OSes and apps. While I understand they are "templates" and not "windows", they look like the latter. For example, every other windows-like system has minimize/maximize/close together (and not separated by a Help button). Images has a non-standard, two-step expand, but the button(s) location(s) change(s) upon expansion and other button functionality (left side) is lost.

Also, I think it has already been reported, but not being able to navigate between Story pages made gameplay frustratingly difficult. I wish I could roll back a patch.

I agree that the Images window buttons make the window too big.

Extension bugs are just path of the course after an update.

MW said they were working on fixing navigation for simple story entries. I think the entire idea was to move everyone forward to advanced story entries and reference manuals/books instead of the simple story entries we have to number like crazy to keep them in order.

The good thing is that most modules have reference manuals already and you can open those from the book menu and those story entries do have navigation in them. If it is your own created story entries, then you can just create a new campaign book and drag those over into it and it should allow you to navigate through them with arrows.

My issue has come from the fact that module maps still link to the simple story entries (because that is how things worked before) and not the reference manual/book so the solution of using the books still comes with the headache of updating map pins.

An extension to convert simple story entries to advanced story entries would be a godsend at the moment. :)

I've just pushed a new update to the patch system that should address this. Please run a new Check for Updates, and try again.
