View Full Version : Pointer Issues - Escape and Label Size

It seems the ability to press "Escape" to clear the last quick-draw pointer doesn't work anymore. I know there was mention of it being fixed when the image panel is open, but now it doesn't seem to work at all.
This was a very useful feature... 1 key (no-look) vs 3 clicks (and that first click has to be pretty precise and a 3rd miss-click can clear ALL pointers).
Distance labels are infinitely better as of today's fix, but on larger maps they are still pretty small. I'd love to see them slightly larger to avoid having to zoom in super far to read them.
Appropriate contrasting color can help, but changing color depending on terrain is another step, and I still feel size is an issue.

Clearing the quick pointer with the escape was a bug that had been lingering for a while and was finally fixed. If you click with the left-and-right buttons (as if you were going to draw a quick pointer) and release, it will clear the current quick pointer.

Dang... left-and-right click is better than radial menu, but ESC was just golden!
I literally have an eternal 4-key keyboard for live play on a table-TV just for pointers. I started with a 3 key (CTRL/ALT/SHIFT), but quickly realized how important ESC was and replaced it with a 4-key version.
What is the function of ESC now? It doesn't seem to do anything?

The ESC key cancels whatever the current action is. If the GM is, for example, drawing on the image and presses ESC it cancels the new drawing and ALSO deletes the quick pointers.

I see. Well, I'd love to see ESC clear quick pointers if in PLAY or GRID mode (or image panel closed), and only cancel current action (drawing, etc.) if in LAYERS/PAINT/FX/LOS/LIGHTING/MASK/GRID modes.

This probably should go on the wishlist (or get bumped up it) but I feel like 90% of the issues that come up with the interface could be solved with the ability to just rebind or alias all the actions

Is it intended that when drawing LOS "Enter" just drops a point at the cursor and doesn't complete the current drawing? ESC now ends it instead?

No. Enter is intended to complete the current drawing. I'll take a look at what's happening there.

The issue has been identified and should be fixed in the next release update.
