The ones that are labelled as "spell level 0" etc are way to over the top for simple spells, they sound like lightning bolts, is there another sound that would be a more subtle, "shimmer" like sound for spell casting?

This is from mattekure in a different string.

With a SuperSyrin subscription, you can import your sounds into syrinscape. Other subscription levels do not currently offer that functionality. The Syrinscape youtube channel has a playlist covering how to create your own soundsets/custom sounds. some of the videos are a little dated, but it covers all the basics. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...fxxZj-Wi9sb9xD

The real work would be to explore the sound catalog and pick out the sounds you prefer, if any. Otherwise, one is left up to Syrinscapes internal staff's interpretation of what any of the base sounds should be, or sound like through Syrinscape'a employees.
There is no easy way to audit, swap, or even edit the provided audio without much effort. To setup your own localized sounds is a lot of work too sometimes.

I just thought somebody else might have found a one shot sound that was more subtle but named weird so it was hard to find in a search.

You can take a look at the Generic 0 level spells. There is a list of generic 0-9th level spell sounds for the various classes.
