I am testing out running FGU on one laptop as a GM using LAN mode, and trying to connect to it from another laptop in the same network (same room). I copied down both internal and external IPs then typed them in manually on the player laptop but it just keeps saying "attempting direct connection to server" and does not connect. Any ideas? THanks.

On the player, type "localhost" instead of IP address.

"localhost" is for connecting a second instance on the same computer. If you have another computer on your local LAN then the local IP address should work. The local UDP port 1802 being used by FG may be blocked by security software - to check it's listening drop into a command prompt on your computer and type (assuming windows): netstat -a -p udp you may need to scroll up to the top of the list to see the 1802 entry (it's in numerical order). If you don't see 1802 then something's blocking FG from listening on that port.
An example output:

Thanks for the correction, Trenloe. I read the original post a little too fast.

Actually, I typed in the wrong IP intinially, however now it won't let me connect because it says there is a license key conflict. So do I have to create a new account on the player laptop?

You don't need to create a new account, but you need to remove the license key from the second computer.

That worked, thank you!
